Minecraft Name: Dccciz Suggestion: If convicted of hacking, the user should receive a punishment along with/instead of the small 3 day tempban that they currently get. Reason: Let's setup hypothetical situation, saying that I have "<Edit><insert fake client here>", which is an average hacked client that can easily kill people in SG. Based on the current time for hacking evidence to be recorded, uploaded and reviewed, I think that I could get away with it for ~3 weeks. During that time, I make $1 Million EcoDollars, buy $50 in donations and buy a top spawnshop. I technically got it without any effort, because I hacked for money. So now, 3 weeks later, I get banned, and I successfully appeal. Nothing else happens except for a 3 day ban! So I can go back to mining with my "hacked" eff7, sell ores at my "hacked" spawnshop, and still have loads of money. With this 3 day "punishment", the server is almost begging you to hack. "If you make millions of ECD and buy stuff with your illegally obtained money, we'll only give you a 3 day ban! You get to keep everything of course, even if you got it illegally." - Server, 2015 Any Other Information: We should wipe the player's balance, auction their spawnshops, and delete all of their lwc's. Get rid of all of their donations and rank them back to builder. If hacking is against the rules, why are we letting people get away with it with a 3 day ban? Link To This Plugin: staff
I think 3 day ban is enough for a first offense. If you have a second hacking offense I agree with the consequences you stated. Someone can truly make a mistake once. If they do it again they know they are cheating but, continue to do it.
I agree with this suggestion @Dccciz and your example shows exactly why more needs to be done - hackers are extremely intelligent when it comes to earning millions in a very short period of time - meanwhile, I must get back to work and earn my money legit. Also, this has been done before on a limited basis. The weird part was that after these users appealed, they gained rank and had millions again in just a few days - I guess signs are probably a lot harder for staff to find.
If the person was resident+, they agreed to the rules and know they are hacking by using a hacked client.
Honestly, wiping donations and rank is harsh. But i definitely agree that they should have their balance clear and spawnshop auctioned. As to the bans, keep 3 days first offence, a week second offence, a month third offence, and fourth attempt... pfft, shouldn't happen.
I know right, but that really can be day one for them. As well if it is their first offense, the may not may the same mistake again. They spend their money on the server, spend time to rank up. Now they tried hacking, got banned and now they want to quit as they have nothing on the server anyways.
If someone hacks, its their fault for acting stupid. First time or 5th time, they should still get an account wipe IMO.
I do think it is perhaps better to leave it in the hands of moderators to judge on an individual basis, however, the suggestion with the example shows why perhaps more needs to be done - scamming millions from hacking really does just seem to get a wrist slap - but that is not the case in every hacking event. These hackers have it down to a science almost - hack - buy star tools or other valuable items (or simply store money in signs) with massive earnings from hacking - take the 3 day ban and come back for more.
I am all for this however i don't agree about the first offense. I would be ok with this if it was for the second offense for hacking because sometimes mods to make a mistake and I would hate having my 9 star tools wiped if a mod made a mistake on my hacking complaint However two mistakes are usually never made so I'm all for am account wipe on the second offense
I think the wipes should be on accepted appeal. I'd be all for balance, trade sign, star tools wipe for all hackers upon appeal. I know this is extreme but hacking is the second worst offense on ecc and is the second most frustrating to the community. My suggestion regarding removing rewards from sg attempts to deal with this. If there was no incentive to hack, I bet we would have a lot fewer hackers. Hacking would only be for the twisted fantasies of the hackers.
I totally agree that it would take incentive away from hackers but it will take incentive away from me to just sg or play in general if sg wasn't rewarded the way it is
Keep your opinion, just remember that if someones commits murder, he doesn't get death penalty. I have to agree with @matrix_rep, that some people can make a mistake, and should be forgiven. Second mistakes dont happen, but first ones can
I dont say to take it word for word. But resetting the hackers features and rank is -1 player of the server, and a huge loss of real money for him too. Even if he hacked the server which is virtual he loses his money he earned in real life? As for murder, because hacking is quite severe, but should not mean we get rid of that player.
