I would like to see /me come back, I remember when it was still in and cost $500 each along with shouts, it could make times more fun, and it would be another money sink for the server, I suggest having the same rules as shouts, in that you cant be overly offensive or be a spammer with it. I'm also not saying price has to be $500 but that is just what it used to be, I am all for it being bumped up to 1k, The ability is still there if you type /me it just tells you that you are not allowed to emote in that channel.
/me literally was /shout when you were around. Andrew made those aliases for shout. /me was last used a year ago, when Chibizdemise and I were using it to such an extent that it got disabled.
/me was not shout, it acted as it does on ventrilo, making it say something like "zwunder loves bacon" or something of that sort while /shout did [SHOUT] !zwunder! Hello all!
Kuke is right. The last time /me did anything, it was strictly an alias for /shout. Only time /me worked as it should (ex. being IRC, Skype, Steam...) was a long, long time ago, and completely free. I would like it back, but it will just re-create spam... I don't know if it can have a price on it, since it seems to be chat-based. I don't think the plugin(s) for /shout are the same plugin(s) for our chat system. o.o
I would love to have access to /me. It's just plain fun and it's a command that just about every mmo has. As with all things new and exciting I'm sure it would be used in excess for a while. Then after, it wouldn't be much of a spamfest anymore. I'm willing to moderate the use of /me if it's re-introduced. Keep a special eye on it, I mean.
The main problem with /me is that people can't ignore/get rid of it. For instance someone who has left all chatchannels would still see /me
Same with shout, people cannot leave that channel or turn them off, if /me cost money, it wouldn't be abused too much, and if we used the same rules as shout, we could prevent spam and flaming with it.
I don't know how the chat plugin(s) work, but it sounds like /me is somewhat channel-based... If it is, wouldn't leaving Global hide /me that is used in Global...?
I think it would with the newest version of hero chat, Which we are using, so I believe you are correct moo.
