Suggestion: Adding a 3 week timeframe between applying for resident, and applying for mayor.

Reason: More and more, players join the server, buy a town, and just leave. That leads to so much unused land on the map. Grant it, there was a recent map expansion, but for the most part, that would not have been necessary if there weren't so many unused towns. Making the 3 week timeframe would seperate the dedicated players from the "play for a day" players.

Any Other Information: I am suggesting this in order to make sure that for the most part, towns in the new land are used.

Mhm, I like this idea, however, I would also add some sort of bypass, like, you can pay 50-80k more to pass by the wait

Although, with the map extension, is this necessary for now?

I actually think it is. Even though there is more room, I am still against the abandonment of towns.

+1 this will also make sure mayors learn the rules and will result in less bans

I would prefer that this not be added for one reason: It may drive away some users who want to work really hard and get their town soon after joining the server but cannot do that, so they decide to find a new server where they are able to do this.

In my opinion, a better idea would be to remove inactive users town protections after X months of inactivity if they have not made prior arrangements with Andrewkm/Wewinagain to keep their towns. I know this was talked about in the past, but I do not know if anything ever came of that idea.

I like the idea of going around a removing protections, but that would take a long time to go through. Maybe if staff could go aound and find/report the towns, that could make the process a lot easier. Or even auction them, or use them as snipe prizes.

As far as people leaving, what you said pretty much proves my point of players not being dedicated. If they want to buy a town really fast, but can't and leave, they don't seem dedicated at all. Maybe donating as a builder or resident could get people around the wait time... I'll need to fix some things with the suggestion.

You bring up some excellent points.

I personally agree with everything else that you said. But auctioning off cities would just lead to the city being dumped again. I think that it would be a good idea for a mayor to simply pay 10k more to get one of these abandoned cities instead of just turning it into the wild. That way the residents there would still be protected from grief and we won't take up even more land with cities.

This idea has been floated around the past so many times it isn't even funny. But it's so hard to reach a good time limit. Some people would say 6 months is plenty of time, but who can say that someone wouldn't come on after a while to see their old favorite server?

And while this may be necessary in the future, it isn't needed at the moment. Give us another year or 2 when we actually get pressed for space and then we'll see.

I think it would be good to place some restrictions on residents becoming mayor. (Even though I am still a resident). However I think that 3 weeks is very harsh and a long time. Buy the idea of removing their protection after a certain amount of time is a good one.
