Suggestion: Makes ores drop normal exp, and mobs drop 0 exp.

Reason: Well, Andrew said he was gonna play with the exp drops, such as making ores drop no exp. As you all know, he we with this, this has caused a huge rise in exp prices which is a great thing to happen. However, this tales away the entire purpose of going into the nether(IMO), unless you are going to farm blazes because around 1/3 of the money gained is from exp. Also, around 2k out of my 14-16k profit is from exp. Alternatively, you can now sit in front of a spawner doing nothing and airing tons of money. This is not the right way for the exp market to be raised, the mobs need to drop no exp, and ores NEED to drop exp, I believe that this would cause an equal raise in the market, and promote the purchases of Eff7's which in turn, promote voting to generate nstars.

Definitely agree with this. Exp farms are making a bomb where as the hard working new players and dedicated miners that work hard, risking the perils of lava burny goodness are getting a raw deal at the moment.

Ores give you too much exp in general. I think we should get exp from mining ores, just not as much as you do by default. Same for mob spawners- give us exp, just not as much

This would completely eliminate the purpose of mob spawners. I'm not saying thats bad thing, just want to make sure thats clear with everyone. I don't know where i stand on this, I'd say Im neutral

Then mob spawners would be crap. Then what is the point of going into the mining world? If you spawners drop prices it's worthless. Then mining world population decreases. All of a sudden where people want to claim towns there will be mining strips underneath them.

I myself like that it's divided. I can't get exp with mining, and I can't get ores with mobfarming. This is how I think it's supposed to be.
You don't get experience when farming, woodcutting and stuff either, why would mining give exp? What makes mining so special with exp? I know mojang added it, we simply have that change disabled. You're not actually missing out on anything. It wasn't there to begin with. It's not having ANY negative effects on the economy, it's not stopping builders from making money, because you know, you make money by selling ores. And tools can easily be bought for <10k each. It's easy to make money as a builder.

As for the mob farming thing, it's a broken way of making exp, but that way of making exp comes at the risk of your spawner getting destroyed by the "spawner hunter" people. And this has had a positive effect on the exp market so far. So I see no reason to change this.

The way I see it, it's currently working really well. Don't fix what's not broken.

you can go break a bunch of -rare- mob spawners in the wild

but you will never be able to break all of the redstone/coal/diamond/ores in the wild.

mobs are the better way to help the exp market. ores just cause inflation especially with eff 7s and such

I was going to agree with this post until I read this. Being a new player, I would love to be able earn exp from mining. But it would cut down on profits in the long run.

    I'd say 1/2 of each.
I'm a hard working miner who can't be bothered to mindlessly farm for money, and can't be bothered to AFK a spawner all day.

I'd love to see mining have an opportune chance at giving some xp, so I'd say make mobs drop 1/2 the normal XP and ores drop 1/2 the normal XP rate. No matter what though, more XP needs to be produced in some way.

Why not change it though, there is always room for improvement. With this new EXP system I doubt that we will be seeing many builders or residents excel, when getting a decent tool costs them 20k.

Change is VITAL, and improvement is the most logical form of change.

Improvement is possible, but what this person's suggesting is a "fix". It's an overhaul, not an improvement.

I am "this person" and I am suggesting a simple switch between mobs exp and ores exp, I'm not trying to overhaul the system, just a tweak.

oh sorry, I didn't remember who made the post and didn't look.
And switching between mobs and ores is a complete changes in the way exp is gathered, I'd call that an overhaul.

Remove xp drops from mobs, Reduce xp drops from ores, make smelting give no xp. I can sit at a spawner afking for 5 hours, coming on every 5-10 mins to farm mobs and go afk again, I can gain xp from this by barely even doing any work. Meanwhile I can mine for around 1 hour and get 0 xp from mining the ores, why not 'reward' these people who are actually not afk and mining with xp? I don't see how this is a bad idea, if you think ores drop too much xp, why not reduce the amount of xp they drop? Let's say, a diamond ore drops around 3 - 7 xp orbs per ore mined, why not reduce it to 1 orb? Nether Example : Blazes from the nether spawn every 15 seconds and drop 10 xp orbs each, meanwhile mining for 15 seconds may not even let you find any ores. Mining World Example : Hostile mobs from spawners spawn every 15 seconds and drop 5 xp orbs each, I may get double spawners to increase the rate of xp orbs, meanwhile, mining for 15 seconds may also not let you find any ores. Let's say, I mine for 1 hour and get a total of 1650 ores (diamond, lapis, redstone). 1650 ores = 1650 xp orbs since 1 xp orb is dropped per ore, 1650 xp = 2 sets of xp = $5,000~. Meanwhile, using the rate of 1 mob per 15 seconds, 1 hour = 3600 seconds, 3600 seconds = 240 mobs. 240 mobs at 5 xp orbs per mob = 1200 xp orbs, 1200 xp orbs = $3700~. There is only a $1,300 difference between you mining the xp orbs and people afking and gathering the xp from mobs, the xp from mobs can also be doubled by getting double spawners. If you are asking, 'what about coal?' I did not include coal the the ores as I think that if xp is added to coal, it can be abused easily.
