Hi there, I was wondering if it was possible to change the LWC Cleanup Policy so that you don't have to interact with the locks to keep them safe for a few reasons. 1. You can't tell how long a lock has until it's removed, which means it can be hard to keep track of which locks are older. This can lead to people just constantly checking their locks, and for users like me who have a lot of locks (I have 1846) this just isn't realistic. 2. If you have a large amount of locks, chances are you're going to miss some of them and risk having the blocks locked by someone else, or having your goods taken. I propose that the policy changes so that if you're offline for a certain amount of time, all of your locks will disappear. This means that you lose the thousands and thousands of locks left by old inactive players, and the active players will keep their things and not have to worry about losing all of their things. Thanks.
I have a vault with hundreds of chests in it, I don't use every chest, but I want to keep them all locked so no one takes them. Also, people with towns packed to the brim with plots will undoubtedly have a large amounts of locks they don't use often because they may not sell many plots, and they don't interact with the locks in them. Finally, sometimes you forget about things and then at a much later date remember that thing. If it turned out that I kept something of great personal or economic value in a chest I forgot about, and the lock was wiped and it was taken it would be really frustrating. I do understand that the last point is an unlikely occurrence, but it's possible.
I have a locked obsidian layer under the floor to my main city. I never interact with it for obvious reasons, but it does make it nearly impossible for new builders to grief the farm/vaults below it. That is an example that comes to mind. Now every six months I will have to left click 40k. Blocks.
How about we have different clean-up times depending on the person? I've got 2 ideas for this. 1. Non-donators get their locks removed quickly, but donators don't get their locks removed as quickly (and maybe a certain donation/donation amount could guarantee the locks never get removed at all) 2. The time it takes to wipe locks could be dependant on how many locks the user has (similar to wiping a users balance). Less than 10 locks could be 2 weeks, 100 could be 3 months, 1000+ would never get wiped etc
This. I would like to add to it the following: Sure a massive database search is a source of lag. but the thing is, every access to this database is what actually causes lag. (Unless the only lag is to the player trying to access the lock, in which case the first half of this statement is irrelevant) and making people constantly interact with their locks will cause more requests. Step two as has already been mentioned this will remove a LOT more locks in a much more understandable and clear way to the playerbase. It causes way too much fear for no reason when there is another, much more elegant solution
+1 This is probably possible and sounds like a good idea, there are plenty of people that have locks they need but don't use often and I think it would be smart to change the policy this way.
