Minecraft Name: jassimq Suggestion: /lotto winners shows how many tickets did that user win that lotto with Reason: Alot of users have been asking "How many tickets did he/she have?" , so this is an easier way to answer their questions, this is asked every 15 mins Any Other Information: This is really needed! Link To This Plugin: N/A @JBuks Suggested this before but didn't get alot of replies/viewers
I don't know why this isn't in place! This will help with me because no I have /lot messages on. But I like to see who wins
Overall, I like the suggestion. My issue with it is that it may not be able to be coded, which is needed for this suggestion. I'm sure KHobbits can code this, but if he cannot, it obviously cannot be implicated. If it can be coded however, I'm all for the suggestion! +1/-1
-1 No offense or anything, but if you don't see the congratulations it's none of the players business how many tickets the winner had. It's not needed just watch lotto to see.
+1 I quit lotto a long time ago but it's still amusing to watch. Plus if this were implemented there could potentially be some sort of medal for big 1-ticket wins.
"none of the players business how many tickets the winner had." How so? It's public knowledge, it even shows when the lottery draws. Why is it so bad to show it in /lot winners?
It is public knowledge but you shouldn't rely on the server to document it for you. It's fine if you personally want to monitor lotto but remember the old argument this is a "hardcore" server. I don't think it's very "hardcore" to have the server baby you by giving you all the information you need. If you want money work for it. Don't expect the server to do your work for you that's not how it works. A player made data base for lotto is perfectly fine, however to expect the server to monitor the lotto and make a nice clean data base for you is just lazy. what this suggestion says is true. Everyone keeps asking how many tickets did the person buy? That's the point, I like how it promotes individual research and thought. Not just a simple command to make all your rresearch nice and easy. This suggestion is basically in place to give people a false sense of safety for betting in lotto that's is. You need to see how many where in the pot, how many people were voting, and when did they vote to get an accurate prediction into your chances and I know any experienced player would agree. Taking that into account this suggestion doesn't help that much at all if you look at it. If anything its just there for raging players to see how much they lost buy and how much another has gained. I may not play this lotto but that is because it's full of snips and op bids. Players may win with 1 ticket ops but it's still rare and other factors do apply. So still -1
I don't think you realize what the suggestion is about. It's only about the last 10 lottos, the total winnings is already there, why not include the amount of tickets? As for your last paragraph, my lottery leaderboard doesn't show it either, nothing shows it. Lottery is a game that always wins, in the same way the dealer always wins in casinos. The lottery exists solely to take loads of money out of the economy (which it does, over a million each day). It's built on this false sense of security. And honestly, if this doesn't get implemented I'll simply implement it myself on lottery.radthorne.com. I already have a private page that does it. My lottery leaderboard was actually made to give people a competetive push, there's constantly people competing to be at the top of the leaderboard in most wins and biggest wins. I made a biggest 1 ticket page, which makes people think there are a lot of 1 ticket wins, but I never ever put losses on that leaderboard. It's purely winning. The lottery is SUPPOSED TO GIVE A FALSE SENSE OF SECURITY, because WITHOUT IT THE SERVER WOULD LOSE because no one would play. Let the lazy be lazy and throw their money away out of a false sense of safety, that's the purpose of the lottery. That's why this should be added.
I would tend to agree that we should let lazy be lazy it's upto them to decide to spend (waste) their money on lotto. However I still don't like promoting laziness I didn't know you have a lot to leaderboard. The lotto can always win that's a good way to regulate money but I still don't see how listing the amount of tickets bought will help them very much it seems just like a waste of space. I do see how it would help you (having a thread on it) but normal people trying to research lotto or learn from it... not so much. But of course that's just my opinion I like researching and discovering things for myself, however others may just want an easy way out.
The only way to properly research it is by keeping track of every lotto. So far I'm the only person who's made a bot + a series of automated scripts to do just that. It's something that I doubt many people know to do. The other way is through some clientside chatlog, but that requires you to join the game. The only reason people want this is out of curiosity. I myself have a personal log where I can see the latest lotteries because I have a bot. But most people don't, but they still want to see how many tickets people used. Trying to ask about a lottery that happened like 2 hours ago usually yields no result. I used to ask around a lot, but rarely with results. I made my personal lottery page because I was frustrated that I didn't know how many tickets the person bought. It's frustrating wanting to know something and ask around, but you don't get any responses or people just don't know. That's why I want this, because I know how aggravating it is when you're curious and want to know, but there's no way of finding out because nobody else knows.
Your version of "curiosity" is exactly the same as my version of research. You yourself said you made tons of scrips trying to monitor lotto that's awesome look how much you accomplish and probably learned. That's how your supposed to learn. This simple command (if it's codeable) is just a cop out from all the work you did. However out of curiosity I would support the previous lotto to show the tickets but not a larger data base like 10 before. since you obviously know what your talking about I would like to point out a fact. Doesn't a lotto change depending on the circumstances e.i. amount bought and how many people are bidding. Therefore if you want to win a better system would be "total number of people betting and how many tickets they have" if you want to regulate it over time a better system would be the method you use coupled with the data of all the tickets in the pot and how many per person. That my friend is what you need if you truly want to analyze lotto to an extent when you can make a better decision, however it changes every game. Therefore this suggestion is too small to make a major difference. Curiosity: yes usefulness: not so much.
Public knowledge is give to the public. The public and give it out. Lottery draws are public and can be put into '/lot messages'. Don't know why you're so against it...
