I have recently downloaded the ECC Vote app on my iPod and though it might be cool to buy donations as an in app purchase with iTunes money and such. This is just a though that occured ti me a while after i opened the app for the first time. I hope you like this idea!
The developer of this app has been gone for a while now. LCPrecords Also, this would never happen. iTunes takes a percentage of the money spent on everything, so instead of $10 on a giftcard andrew would make only like $8 or something like that. It may not seem like much, but it adds up. Quick. Just get a paypal account.
You don't loose money in any case. Don't be bored and open your computer. By using paypal instead of itunes andrew gets more money to run the server without you paying extra. This won't be implemented just because of the percentages that andrew looses if he uses the itunes store. i.e. For each giftcard you buy using paypal, andrew gets 9.31 USD.(0.69 USD loss) For each giftcard you would buy using the itunes store, andrew would get 7 USD (3 USD loss) Thank you kukelekuuk00 for the information.
true apple would take 30%, i did debate on using the paypal sdk, since dcc was using paypal anyways, and link that to andrews paypal so it go direct to him.
I have found that there is a very easy way to do this, I might have this in another app, or combined with the voter app. I'll talk to andrew soon about it.
Using the Webview model in android I plan to use the paypal sdk in the ios app, although it may not work the way I want.
If the problem is Andrew loosing money is there anyway around that? Say raising the price of donations only on the app? Or, is there a way to directly link his paypal account?
I mean that it would be too much pain listing every donation feature, and it would have to be updated with every sale andrew does. I think I will be going the webview way.
It would be like this: http://www.ecocitycraft.com/forum/pages/ECCShop/. A little thing like that. Basically a web-browser prospective in a app. Just like the voting app does. It brings up the web-browser view.
