Minecraft Name: David_Torento Suggestion: Add a rank below mod, with no special abilities, called a "Helper" This person would be just a regular player whom has been a part of ECC for awhile and is knowledgable of the server. The rank would not be applied for, rather the GA+ would decide who deserves to be a helper, and would discuss the position with that user. *Note: If GA's are overworked, assign a "Helper Supervisor" Position to a Very trusted user (Like Ike) whom can depict good users from bad users. Reason: Often late at night there is no staff on, but there is some of the more active, experienced players on when new users log on. When these users ask questions and no one answers, it is difficult for them to play on the server, and they quit. Any Other Information: This rank would have no special privileges given to them (Except maybe TP in order to teleport users to certain places, or something along those lines. This would likely not be a factor since most of the experienced players already have this donation) Link To This Plugin: N/A *Note: This is a very flexible idea, so if you have negative criticism please don't hesitate to explain, and help adjust the idea to better fit the server.
There are other servers who do similar... It becomes a huge popularity contest, and those with "Helper"-like ranks often stop helping and take in the popularity/fame/etc. Also a good way to manipulate people to get free stuff.
I already discussed this with David in game, but I figured I'd voice my opinion here. I don't think this is a good idea. Having a player with a seemingly staff name and no staff powers seems a little silly tbh. We've done something similar to this before and it doesn't work out very well. That being said. I feel this just shows that players need to step up and help each other more. Yes, the staff are here to help, but David is right. There are times when the staff are either dealing with something or a bit short-handed (like at night). There is nothing stopping players from helping each other just to be good people. You don't need a special title to be helpful and you should never feel you do. I'm not saying 'help' by enforcing rules. That is our job. I'm saying help by guiding players. Answering questions. Help people who look confused. Sometimes the best help comes from a citizen, if you will.
