Suggestion: Lock help/support threads, editing the title with a tag of [Resolved], [Duplicate], or something classifying their status. Then, when threads are locked, moved them to a subforum called "Closed Issues". This would allow for quick indexing of help/support threads.

Reason: Rarely do I see help/support threads bumped due to a recurring issue. Most people don't take the time to look through the section, and then in turn just end up posting a more modern version of the same question or bug report. Locking threads after they are resolved by either a user, mod, or Andrew would not only allow for the aforementioned quick indexing, but also would allow for the mods/admins to view issues in progress or that need attending to.

Any Other Information: This would require some decent front-end work by the staff team, but when accomplished, could help things run smoothly - much like the current format of the Ban Appeals and Complaints section.

Link To This Plugin/Is this a custom addition?: xenForo.

I suppose this could only be beneficial, and should eventually implemented, yet I think there are other staff issues to prioritize.

Maybe it would be possible to use xenForo thread tags (like the "Sticky" tag) instead of actual thread title modifications?

    Either way, +314.

Prefixes. Sticky threads are sticky threads, but the word and color for "Sticky" is a prefix.

It's more than possible to set up multiple prefixes, even just for certain forum sections. Really easy, too. They're clickable, making it so that you can quickly view one prefix.

TBH, I wouldn't do a separate forum section. Just using prefixes alone would highly boost organization and quick reading.

Easiest thing to do. However having a separate forum for just closed topics is just too much work maybe just a prefix called Resolved.

I like the prefixes idea and I'll see what I can do about getting it implemented but I think @JamieSinn has already been pushing for them to no avail.

A new subforum for closed issues really has no benefits though - it also goes against our current "don't close threads" policy.

That's part of what this suggestion is entailing with the prefixes; it's also to change the don't close threads policy. Just being honest, how many help and support threads are bumped after the issue has been fixed? Very seldom, at least from my experience. So, once the issue is resolved or question is answered, just lock the thread. Then, if someone reports the same bug, it can be locked with a post saying "Duplicate, link here" or something of the like.

Plus, prefixes really aren't even needed; the people who resolve the issues generally have enough forum power to change the title on threads. A simple [Resolved] in front of the title will provide much easier searching - just type "Resolved" and click the "Search titles" checkbox.

It actually does have benefits though - It offers more organization to this section of the forms and makes it easier for staff to handle the help and support section - For example, when a bug report is handled, it should be archived, not kept in the open unlocked. This will make the section much clearer as a whole and ensure that the open threads are handled swiftly.

The whole argument against locking help/support threads is that "someone else may have the same issue". But then, when was the last time someone bumped a help/support thread? Players are much more inclined to create their own thread than go through the hassle of looking for a thread with the same issue.

This really just makes sure bug reports are handled more quickly and adds more cleanliness to the forums as a whole - These two aspects are not what the current system offers.

Pertinent bump due to the new process of prefixing suggestions.
