Minecraft Name: crossfire26 Suggestion: Remove /sell hand for gold and iron ingots. Reason: All the time, I see miners complaining about how mining makes less money than farming per hour, and with the diamond prices as they are now, that just makes it even worse. My suggestion in to remove the /sell hand feature for gold and iron ingots. Gold, as rare as it is, could and already does sell for over $20 at stores around the server, and Iron usually goes for $10/ingot. With no set server price, I could see gold averaging around $30/ingot, and Iron $17/ingot. Not only would this be helpful to the miners out there, but it would also spread more money around the economy, which these days, is greatly needed. Any Other Information: No. Link To This Plugin: N/A
No.......... You'd make gold and iron completely user controlled and it will end up like diamonds, lower than the original price.
I agree with kuke. The price is fine for me, and I mine. I don't want anything to be as low as diamonds are now.
I see what you mean. It could easily end up like the diamonds. But here is how I think of it. Diamonds have been unable to be sold to the server for a long time now. Gold and Iron, would just be starting out like that. As of now, I do not see anyone eager to sell gold and $3/ingot right away if at all. But then again... lnspect was eager to sell diamonds at $30. Though I am having second thoughts, I want to keep this open for a bit longer just to see anymore peoples' thoughts on the matter.
If anything, the prices should be increased. Lets put the MINE back into Minecraft. This is not Farmcraft.
A server price is essentially the price floor. People will never go below it because they can easily /sell hand and make the set amount no matter what. Removing this floor, the prices would actually fall because if my sign has X gold at X price and they don't sell I would move my price down to try to sell some. Then I'd do it again, then down again later. Then someone else moves their price down to beat me and suddenly we are under the server price and headed further and further down as more people join the competition to sell their gold. Diamonds are the perfect example of why this is a bad idea. We were selling them steadily at 95-125 and then Cam sold his for 85, but he sold like 20k+ of them and flooded the market. As all those people sat with their diamonds the price wars started and the prices dropped from 95 to 90, then to 85 as people tried to break even with what they paid Cam. Then the prices dropped to 80 then to 70 then to 50 then to 30. It wasn't so much the lack of demand as why the prices dropped, it was the competition between players to sell their diamonds that moved the price down. If everyone had held steady at $85 we'd still have that price today, but it only takes a few people to undercut each other to start a price war that just kills the market. RagMan
Making this simple; I disagree with this suggestions for a Variety of reasons, but I will just point out the main reasons. If we were to make Gold/Iron nonsellable to the server, it would just make them like Diamonds.... Lower then Cooked fish, which we don't want to happen. As it is though, most smart miners will take the time to sell their Gold/Iron to users for better profits, but with the /sell hand option also allows for those who just want quick money. The reason Diamonds are user to user is because they're rare items, and are the source to some of the best; Armor, Weapons, Tools, and more. So this makes all these great things User to User. If we were to make Gold/Iron user to user, it would just make diamonds even lower, and maybe sell for $5 each (?). Which would completely revamp the Economy in a bad way, and no one would be happy. I hope I explained that in a clear way.
Could someone please lock this topic for me, I've come to realize that this suggestion would not benefit the server. Thank you though, to all of the people who wrote what they thought on the matter. (Not being sarcastic, I really like any feedback.)
