To anyone who has played on this server, it is obvious that the "/sell <item>" command is a very important way to gain funds. However, getting these materials in large enough quantities to make any noticable profit often requires use of high level tools like a Diamond Pickaxe or Diamond Axe, which builders/new users can't easily get a hold of. So, what I'm proposing is that the "/Sell" command be available only to those of a [Resident] status or higher. The problems currently faced: 1. Builders cannot easily obtain diamond materials in-order to make money efficiently. 2. Builders are often faced with a problem obtaining jobs. These problems will be solved by doing this because: With only players of a [Resident] status or higher being able to use the "/sell" command, Builders cannot sell items they mine; this means that they will look for jobs from people of a higher status. These jobs will be given along with the necessary materials to do it efficiently such as Diamond Pickaxes and Diamond Axes, which means that Builders will no longer face the trouble of finding Diamonds for tools, which also saves diamonds as many Builders come and go taking with them many diamonds which cannot be recovered, plus, the builders are getting paid more because they can get the materials at a faster rate than they could before and also not spend the money on tools. What's in it for the people who are not Builders? Well, after they provide the tools to a Builder, they can pay them $1 for every Pumpkin they bring in. (The going rate for a Pumpkin is $2 as of the 26th of March 2012). The builder can gather more pumpkins than before and then give them to the Employer who then sells them making a $1 profit on each Pumpkin. Example: A Builder can make $100 every day from farming Pumpkins with a Stone Axe using the "/sell" command. He can't farm them as fast as he could with a Diamond Axe, and he never will because he won't be able to afford one. But, with the job, he can give the employer 200 pumpkins from using the Diamond tools in the same amount of time it took him to gather 50 with a Stone Axe. The employer will also make more money from this system because they can now have multiple people gathering pumpkins for them whereas before, they could only do it by themselves. You'll find that this not only allows everyone to get more money, but also allows for a more realistic economic system in-game for obvious reasons. And it adds just another reason to become a [Resident] ;3 Thank you for reading this --Powerblock
No. Builders are already handicapped enough and the easiest and best way to make enough money to buy resident is through mining then selling the materials. If this goes through, then all the builders would have an incredibly hard time making money. If this happens then they will get mad and just quit. If builders quit and we don't gain any new players, eventually we will start losing players and have no player base with no new players coming in.
Handicapped? They are almost identical to Residents with the exception of trade signs. Besides, my proposal would allow builders to get tools that they can't get; along with a job paying at a rate they could never earn.
I got along just fine as a builder. Found my own diamonds and made my own diamond tools. In 3 weeks I already have my own town and co-mayor of another. If I hadn't been able to sell everything I mined then I would still be a resident or got frustrated and quit. Your suggestion hinges on your opinion that builders can't make money without a diamond tool? Sorry but that just sounds ridiculous. Without /sell hand, it will actually be harder for builders to make money.
What about farming builders? I have seen builders rent big farms for 3k and make like 10k and without /sell hand they would NOT be able to make money that way.
I made resident in 2 days playing 2-3 hours back when resident was 20k and there was no such think as pumpkin farming. It's not that hard, you just need to know how to play minecraft.
and how are builders not able to get diamond tools when i started diamonds were at a base of 80 so i got one of ever tool in the first 2 hours of playing
Most builders get diamond tools within their first hour of playing. also That has absolutely NOTHING to do with disabling /sell I don't know what link you made with diamond tools and /sell but having /sell is VITAL for builders to get money from mining/farming, Especially for the off-peak people (who cannot sell much to other players) it is the most basic and most useful command we have and disabling it would just scare people away.
This suggestion will not only make it more difficult for builders, it also forces them down a play style. ECC shouldn't be forcing people to play a certain way, just because it benefits other players.
