Right now, lottery tickets are $1000, and as far as I know an unlimited amount can be purchased. As someone who is fairly new to the server, there's two downsides to this. $1000 isn't much, but it goes a long ways towards Residency for the builders, or the next rank up they're looking to get. Anyone without a couple hundred thousand in cash has no hopes of really winning the lottery when people can buy 150 tickets to win ten other peoples $1000 they put in. I propose two changes, which can be both be enacted together, or only one: 1) Limit the amount of tickets purchasable. One to ten would be reasonable, I believe. 2) Lower the ticket price. $100-$250 make it a lot more affordable, especially to people who would like to participate, but are new to the server with little cash on hand or to people that aren't interested in risking a chunk of their Residency/Aether/Nether/Mayor slush fund.
Sorry lol, but andrew will likely never.. EVER .. change the lottery & how it works. Trust me. Unless some sort of new exploit comes up ofcourse.
Yes, the lottery is expensive. Yes, many people put in over 100 tickets. But, I have seen many people (myself included) win with just one ticket. The lottery is a game of chance. You could put in 1000 tickets and still lose to a person with one ticket, although unlikely. The point of it is, you could play in the lottery, but you don't have to. P.S. It's fun to see people duke it out
How about this, then: Leave the current lottery system in for the high rollers. Implement a second lottery with a lower ticket limit and price. This way more people get to participate with a more enjoyable experience. Not sure if you can have two different lotteries on the same server, though.
The rich will just play both lotteries, and it will end up to be two really high lotteries. :b Adding another won't do much for those with less money.
Those who are rich can still dominate it. :/ Even if they can't do as much, it just means it will be "mini large lotteries." That may be contradiction, but true. Only way to keep rich away from it would be...impossible. edit: Also, five tickets would be way too low, especially if ticket price dropped. Bad example. D:
Not really. If there's a 5 ticket limit at $250 a ticket, that's only $1250. That should be easily affordable to people who haven't got a lot of cash flow yet. I would throw $1250 a few times a day at a lottery, even if the pot only ended up being $50k or something similarly low.
LOCKED. Prices regarding lottery are not discussable, Andrew will never change it, as he said TIME and Time again only post if you have a VERY VERRRY strong point. viewtopic.php?f=14&t=9017
