Hey there I just wanted to suggest that the rule when claiming a town (highlighted below in red) should be changed to "This goes for anyone in the owners section of /rg info <townname> command. Basically all current owners must all have abandoned the town by being offline or PermaBanned for us to even begin to handle your request." It doesn't make sense to include the original owner. You may claim towns of owners who are either offline for 6 months, or PermaBanned. This goes for original town owners (the user who originally applied for the town) as well as anyone in the owners section of /rg info <townname> command. Basically the original owner as well as all current owners must all have abandoned the town by being offline or PermaBanned for us to even begin to handle your request. You may check how long owners are offline using the following two methods: /seen <username>. http://i.imgur.com/Kilkgsi.png Forum profile search. http://i.imgur.com/PAr9kvV.png /seen takes priority over the forum profile. Meaning if they are offline for 8 months on the forum but only 5 in game, the town cannot be claimed. If /seen is missing and player cannot be found only the forum profile information can be used. Note: Upon posting a Town Claim application, a member of staff will send a forum PM to the Official Owner of the town. Once a 3 day period has passed, the player's activity will be re-assessed and must still meet the above criteria to be eligible for the town to be claimed.
The original owner should be inactive as well as they are still considered an owner of the town, regardless of whether they're in /rg i or not - And the town claim puts you as an original owner too, so you're technically claiming the town from the original owner as well, and it would be unfair if the original owner had no influence in the town claiming process. Regardless, if you removed that bullet point, they're still an owner, so the same rules still apply.
The original owner can reclaim the town via GameAdmins, so they may still have an interest in the town. This also helps prevent abuse of the claim system.
I interpreted "this also helps prevent abuse of the claim system" as positive, but given how wrong I am on most things @Nicit6 is probably against it.
But it doesn't make sense if the original owner isn't in the town or part of the town doesn't that mean they lost interest in the town? I've seen towns with the owners being inactive 3+ years. It's just a loop hole to keep your town.
That's exactly what it is. Towns are not meant to be, and should not be, easy to claim. If anybody who has put any money or time into the town (current owners, official owner, etc) even MAY have an interest in the town, then the rules should give them preference. I mean let me put it this way, a town claim lets you take someone (or multiple people's) hard work away from them at no compensation to them. Why should we make this easier on the ones taking, and harder on the ones being taken from?
Like I've stated to US2 it's just a loop hole to keep your town. How would anyone abuse the claim system? They're just claiming towns that belong to players that are inactive.
You say "it's a loop hole to keep your town" as if someone else has more of a right to your town than you do. This should absolutely never be the case.
Because most of the towns that I've seen with inactive town mayors haven't been touched. Clearly they don't want/need them. So why take up space just sitting there when others can grow that town and put good use to it.
But it isn't yours. You have literally 0 right to somebody elses property. If you want an untouched town that's inactive surely you can simply find another who's owner is also inactive?
Reason I said that is because people who are inactive 3+ years aren't even caring for the town. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't like someone claiming my town,but there is no reason to keep a town inactive 3+ years.
Then the town is claimable. If the original owner is active, you can also get them to consent to the claim for it to go through. However, if they aren't willing to consent, then they do care.
As I said above, if the owner is "active", you can get their consent to the claim and be fine. If they aren't, you don't need it and can just claim it.
If the original owner doesn't consent to it, they obviously care about the town and want to keep it. It doesn't matter if it's untouched or not, you still aren't entitled to someone else's property.
Never said I was. I was just explaining that if the original owner actually showed interest then they would of claimed it already.
