Minecraft Name: @CrazySwagMaster1 Suggestion: Create a way, either via /mail, or a message people may log into, where GA's+ may send a message to every server that will show up for a set amount of time, similar to that of the mail message, or the 'welcome to ecc' we are all greeted with. Reason: All of our information, updates, etc. go through either the forum or twitter. I know that. MANY in the game have proven not to know that. Sure, andrew might do an alert in game... But what percent of our servers active population is always on at 1 point in time? even on peak I'd be willing to guess 25%? 30%? Any Other Information: These are the ban appeals all caused by the recent 'lwc cleanup policy': Spoiler: Ban appeals @IamKarnii https://www.ecocitycraft.com/forum/threads/banned-for-lwc-looting.140433/ @Blossomsfall https://www.ecocitycraft.com/forum/threads/ban-appeal-blossomsfall.140418/ @IamKarnii https://www.ecocitycraft.com/forum/threads/ban-appeal.140441/ @TMTdogg https://www.ecocitycraft.com/forum/threads/ban-appeal-tmtdogg.140448/ @MinecraftParkerH https://www.ecocitycraft.com/forum/threads/ban-appeal-minecraftparkerh.140424/ @Piquno https://www.ecocitycraft.com/forum/threads/ban-appeal-piquno.140438/#post-766278 @loganeric https://www.ecocitycraft.com/forum/threads/ban-appeal.140432/ Many more that are likely currently banned. I know @matrix_rep has caught quite a bit of people abusing this. I would imagine he'd love to have everyone know this was against rules. (I may have missed some, I had a lot of tags open trying to find these, hopefully one would get the idea). Many of you reading this suggestion would realize... many of these users are active, some of the most active on server even. Most of their ban appeals state they did not know, and I'm sure all of them would have appriciated an email, or a login message saying this would happen. Not everyone is a forum addict like me. Link To This Plugin/Is this a custom addition?: Could be through mail, could be just a new message sent out when people are logged in... I could think of a million different ways to implement, all likely with different plugins. The fact of the matter is... a lot of players here... are here to play minecraft on the server we all love. We don't (all) check forum pm's twitter, etc. The people like those need a source to get information from. This suggestion provides a way to do that.
It's worth noting that half the appeals you listed are people who knew about it... and blatantly disregarded it. I do like the idea of a mailall or something usable. Though I could also add this to the MOTD.
Let's just add something like "It is illegal to take from unlocked chests until further notice" to the essentials MOTD.
You quoted my post saying I could do something asking me if I could do that thing. Not sure your point exactly with that.
You gave us an option of a mailall or a MOTD, so I was just suggesting to go off MOTD idea Sorry if there was any misunderstanding with that, lol. Edited, I kinda phrased it wrong, lol.
This would be a great idea for big changes/events that may be happening. It could help inform an even wider range of players who might not use the forums much. +1
I think that even if it helps one player from breaking rules it's worth it imo. MOTD would be a great way, I think we should use it for many things. Mailtall would be another method for semi-important ones.... That is one way we could do this.
From the receiving end of issues such as not knowing about LWC clean up policy. This is an excellent idea as would have prevented my entire issue and i would not have been banned. Good idea.
This is a great idea, I had even seen it on the forum but almost forgot for a minute earlier while I was poking about the wilds and with something like this it would be nice to have a reminder every time you log on until the lwc stuff is resolved.
Sure, it'd help you to. But primarily it's to support those you stole from and prevent them from losing things. No offense but stealing from a chest, locked or not, is rude and unneeded anyways. Those who received bans had earned them, but this would provide a way to prevent crimes from being committed.
I understand where you are coming from. But when you are told its fine to take unlocked chests in the wild and you happen to stumble across some. Unless you have heard otherwize you are most likely to take what you can. Maybe that just me and im a douche, i dont know. But yes i can see where you are coming from.
It would help literally everyone. Maybe I am relaxing too much during my recreation (haha) but it is pretty instinctual at this point that unlocked chest in the wild is lootable, so it would be helpful to have that reminder for regular users. I genuinely never want to steal from any user but practically need a string around my wrist to remember it suddenly isn't okay for a while. When there are forty daily reminders to vote it would be cool if one was this sudden unusual change up in order to fix the lag. It would prevent people from taking advantage of it, prevent people from accidentally doing it and getting banned, and hopefully help some people realize they need to go lock their chests.
If ECC was a "bad community" the player wouldn't be taking his apology to the forums or apologizing at all. This proves how good ECCs community is by having seemingly dedicated players regardless of how long they played here, as in this players case, he's new. This isn't about "bad community" - it proves the exact opposite, quite actually. It's more of a lack of communication between the newer players who aren't aware of this and the administration.
I really like this idea, I wish the staff could have brain stormed with you forum posters who are generally proven forum posters. Maybe an idea like this should have been put in place before the lwc cleanup started. Granted it wouldn't solve all the people stealing from chest, but I bet it would have kept the honest people out of the chests.
