There is no reason to lower prices of fish. Lowering prices of everything won't help the economy and many players sell fish for money because it is easy to get without enchanted tools.
The reason why Fish were raised from 7.50 I think to $50 was to reduce lag because we had tons of it, also! fishes are one of the slowest, but steadiest ways to make money. EDIT: Andrew gave diamonds a server price so that they wouldn't eventually become worthless. 3. Pumpkins, for example, also serve almost no purpose except decoration. However, they have a significantly lower price than fish. The reason for this is how easy it is to get both items. Players can use pumpkins as their main source of income, and make about 18k or so farming it per hour; players who fish can use fishing as their main source of income. The difference between them is how much time it takes for a player to get a certain amount of each item in a certain amount of time. Fishing and pumpkin farming make, roughly, about the same amount per hour. Fishing simply takes longer to get a reward for time than, say, farming, so fishes have to be worth more to compensate. 4. Profits made from mining, farming, fishing, etc. are closely watched by staff. If one kind somehow began to make enough to spoil the economy, it would likely be lowered to compensate.
Fish prices are at $50 because it is to keep it up to par with farming. You can make 12k farming with the right tools and you can do the same with fishing. It wouldn't be fair to have fishing be worth much less than farming, when it takes just as much time to do.

I know ill probably get hate buy all you FISH LOVERS but I think fish should either go down or auto fishing should be illegal, auto fishing can make 3k a hour, this sounds low and it is but remember the user make that doing nothing Ive before played ps3 while watching minecraft auto fish and its as close to free money as it get, fishing may make less money but they way the money is made means the price need to be lowered to at least $30 or even more!
I kind of just sit at my computer and watch myself catch fish...1 fish is equal to a stack of pumpkins. Fishing is unreliable, but 1 rod brings in about 3k. Fishing is a lot slower and about the same as pumpkins.
