Chest has "Fuel: *amount of fuel" in right left corner (get this by renaming chests and placing em down) 4. Place coal/lavabucket/coalblock into chest 5. Fuel amount changes 6. Put smeltable item in 7. Item smelts like cookpot 8. Fuel goes down
If you rename a chest, and place it down, the top left corner says the name of the chest, maybe name it the amount of fuel? Place coal/lava bucket in the cookpot and it changes how much fuel is in there?

No, for example, you do /cookpot, the top left corner, says Fuel: *amount* and when you place coal/fuel in the chest, the amount goes up, and when you use the cookpot, the amount goes down.
Ah, So as well as putting ores etc in the chest (or cookpot) you also add fuel to the cookpot through the same chest? Thats pretty neat I must say.
+1 if these can be done in any easy way and less complicated and maybe if coal or lava buckets are added it automiaticlly change it into fuel
