I want to express my opinion about this situation without it being buried by the madness in chat. This is what I think how most people feel after this: 1) I don't think people are mad about the cookpots being removed, but rather the fact that there's no instant-smelt without spending $60 for a feature. 2) The price to instant smelt something just went from ~3k for a cookpot (unlimited uses, unlimited users) to $360,000 or $60USD (unlimited uses, limited users). 3) The only options for towns that have public cookpots or places where residents can smelt are people with the $60 feature, or furnaces, which are significantly slower. 4) Handing 10k worth of mining goods to someone is risky if you want them to smelt the items. There's also potential for the "smelter" to keep some of the items in hopes of the other user not noticing their gone. (User mistake, but it opens up some new scams). Overall, I agree with the choice to remove them (I haven't noticed any performance changes), but I think that there should be an alternative to buying the feature. That's up for someone else to come up with though. Thanks for reading, leave your opinions, and try not to flame.
I see what you are saying. However, this is just like ereps, isn't it? You need more than $60 for erep for ext commands++. Pickaxes cost 10k+ too. You can also get your stuff taken away in cookpots. People can take your ores/what you are smelting.
I don't dislike the change personally, but I think if you could gain Exp from using the furnaces like normal, or at a decreased rate than normal (like 10% of the normal exp for smelting), the change would be a lot easier to deal with. I hate furnaces, but it would be nice to gain more than just materials back. Just a suggestion. This would encourage use of furnaces a little, therefore less scams.
I was thinking, what about /smeltlight free to every one with a 10 min cool down, so it would still be safe but it would just take longer.
