Minecraft Name: Dccciz Suggestion: Get rid of half of the current market stalls. Reason: They're all empty and aren't worth more than the rent they cost. The top 6 shops in each row are owned by rich users who sell overpriced goods, because the shops are worth a crazy amount. The cheaper goods are too far down the row for people without fly, and the shops aren't worth anything. I've ran through the market looking at the stalls, and altough some are considered "active" by my terminology, less than 5 per row actually have a solid amount of customers. The rest are just a waste of shops and don't get any business besides the occasional builder walking all the way down the row because the current layout is too confusing for him to handle. Some Statistics: active: user has been on in the past week and signs are updated (station isn't just left there) Red: 19/24 owned, 13 active Yellow: 15/24 owned, 9 active Green: 10/24 owned, 5 active Blue: 11/24 owned, 7 active Only 35% of the shops are currently active. A much smaller amount of shops actually make profit. To those who disagree with any suggestions relating to the market: take a walk down the green row and see the 14 empty shops in a row for yourself. Any Other Information: N/A Link To This Plugin/Is this a custom addition?: N/A
+1 Shold be a redesign of the Market anyways. There was a suggestion that Jamie was looking at before about redesigning the Market but the hub was started on soon after.
Wouldn't this just exacerbate the problem regarding over priced goods? When narrowing down the amount of shops available, you'll only just make the said shops worth more, and by the logic you used, allow rich users to overprice their goods even more...
+1, I was drafting a design for a different suggestion about redesigning the market a while back, and that included about 70 shops. Currently, out of all 24 seventh, eighth, and ninth row stalls, three are rented; in addition, no eighth-rows are rented. I'd like to see no less than 72 shops, in case the market does turn itself around - that may or may not ever happen, however.
I agree, there was a suggestion about redesigning the shop/market a while ago that got a lot of attention, maybe @SuburbSomeone knows where to find it ^-^, I'm happy with the 5k/week price though. Market just needs an update
So the issue with this suggestion... is how? People tend to get unhappy when you arbitrarily move them around. And if we cut the market to an amount of shops lower than what there currently are, how do we decide who gets cut?
I'm sure not all markets are being used atm, I think cutting some markets will in cent more "friendly" competition. I also think a re-disighn to the market is vital at this stage of the game, even for people like me (Players that have been on for 2+years and have a shop of there own) get confused when going into market.
I'm all for a reduction, so long as the top 3 rows (bigger shops) don't lose all of their value. I'll take a bit of a wash on my investment if needed, but not a total dunk.
I know, but I mean if the sizes like shrink or something; if something ends up altering the first 3, I just don't want it to be over the top so I lose most of my initial investment in the shop.
Gotcha, I agree. Although the quantity of the shops in the market should go down, the actual size of the shop should stay the same.
We could move all of the current shops closer to the warp based on their current position and get rid of the ones on the end. (~60 shops) defragmenting memory kinda thing
I'm also going to make an addition to the suggestion. I think the size of the stalls should be decreased. It's a crazy amount of space and a lot of it is just filled with colored wool/clay/glass which can be bought at the server stores at lower prices. Waste of space.
I under stand where your coming from but what about the people who spent 1+mill on these shop's because of 1. There location and 2. Because there size?
Quite honestly, colored glass has never been a huge seller from my experience; a small shrinking wouldn't hurt the market too bad. But that's my opinion, I'm sure others have their own.
Gotcha, it depends on how small the stalls are reduced to, it would also be nice to have smaller stalls for people like me who only buy & sell nstars/exp. As long as the prices of the shops don't go down to much I'm sure others would be fine with this.
i agree - the market is too big - its would be better have smaller stalls for Nstars and exps but maybe move to towns where more better trade could used
Maybe I am missing something. If the shop owners have overpriced goods and don't keep their shops stocked to the consumers desire, then they would be losing money since they have to pay each week. If you think the prices are overpriced, set up a shop of your own and make some money. My colored glass sales alone have paid for my shop's rent. I have seen a decline in sales recently, so I see where you are coming from. As far as not being to go down far enough due to not having fly, There are two warp points for each road. Just use the other warp point and start on that end. If you feel there is too much space in the large shops, then that may be the shop owner's issue as they are losing sales by not utilizing it. It seems like people are complaining on how the shop owners are conducting their business. If you can do better, then do it. As stated, there are plenty of open shop spaces. I'm not saying there aren't issues (The numbering of the shops is one I agree needs to be corrected), but I am not sure I follow the reasoning of many of the complaints listed. With that said, I wish I could fully flesh out my post, but I am needed elsewhere. This was hastily written and if I offended anyone, I apologize, as that was not my intent.
