Username: James4747 Suggestion: Include a scene or feature in spawn which serves to remind us of how we felt when we first started playing MC. (ie. cabin at the lake) The scene should not be contaminated by anything competitive or economic. Reason: A brief Story... As I ran along clearing land for a farm this evening, the low-level feeling of drudgery that I often feel when doing such repetitive, time-consuming tasks reached a level where I decided to acknowledge it head-on. Suddenly, I had a flashback to early MC days where I would spend time manipulating the same stone, gravel and dirt blocks, but with a totally different mindset. I was always excited and inspired by the land around me. I'd survey the wild, hatching plans of creative things to build and defenses to raise. I snapped back into focus, checked my inventory and eagerly resumed my terraforming. I carried with me the excitement and inspiration I had just recalled, and realizing the significance of my refreshed outlook, decided to write this suggestion. Other Information: Basically, to contrast the pursuit of excellence; laborious aspects of minecraft projects and pressure from economic competitiveness, let there be some truly pure scenes which remind us of the world in which we play, and how it makes us feel.
I dug into a hill and made "project diamond" which included just mining down in a 10x10 hole and then mining out a random area underground. I ended up making that tiny house into a huge rollercoaster, a mob tower, a complete monster of a base with lava, cactus and everything because I was terrified to death of spiders and creepers... and I never went even 100 blocks from my base. I would know because I had that home for half a year, then 1.8 came out, and I got a nether portal and went about 20 blocks far into the nether, then made a nether portal, then I ended up in a village. 200 blocks away from my base. Long story short, I somehow had a double chest of diamonds from all of that. No enchantments.
Since we're telling stories instead of responding to the suggestion, I figure I might as well add in my own. When I first started playing, I was put into a plains area that was far from anything. I wandered about aimlessly looking for some source of water that could lead me to an ocean or lake that I could build next to. Instead I found a bustling village wher I could live for free, didn't have to build a thing. Skip ahead about 8 months and I had connected together with railways, 6 villages, all walled up to protect themselves. I built a beautiful Capitol of my new nation in my original town and had designated many towns to certain prospects. For example I had two towns next to mountains which I used as mining towns, one town was used for farming and had dozens of massive farm areas, and one town was my designated industrial town where I built factories and other Redstone creations.
I didn't know how to jump, sprint, crouch, speak or how to craft things. But I did learn pretty quickly....
I mean, I didn't think people would write responses, but it's been cool to read other people's stories about how they started out. And... when the staff... collaborate with the winning builder... if/when.. idc... I'm sure the extra info will help in the creative process! So, yeah CB, it's all good
