a ECD purchasable option to rezone your town biome to the one of your choice. example. my town is in a savanna. savanna has ugly grass. so i pay {amount} to get it rezoned to jungle. so it has nice green grass. not sure how it would work on the technical end of things but i think players would be willing to spend on it. ive seen people spend on worse.
Biome changes were once offered as a limited time offer from Andrew. It's a world edit option. I think there were some technical difficulties with it the last time they were available (ie. the entire region wasn't getting changed over properly); maybe there have been improvements, and perhaps Andrew could have it again next time he's choosing to do specific limited time world edit services.
The last time biome changes were offered, it only changed the biome, not the terrain. So you could change the biome to a mesa, but you'd still need quite a lot of manual labor to make it look like one.
As much as I enjoy this suggestion and would love for it to be implemented, andrew to my knowledge stated that there would be no more World Edit jobs done. If this were to happen, it should cost $100,000+.
im wasnt aware when posting this suggestion that andrew stated that there will be no more world edit jobs. and i completely understand that he probably has a reason for stating so. but i do believe in change and also believe that this server could handle something as simple as costly biome changes.
If you want to start on the matter of pricing, I would have to say 10 per 1x1 area, and the smallest you can buy it in is 100x100 which would be a minimum price of... 1,000,000. $1,000,000ECD to change the biome of a 100x100 area, $4,000,000ECD to do a 200x200. This would be very hard to do, unless you're a guy with multi-millions in his reserves... I say +1/-1. Now, or whatever reason these were discontinued, my guess is the lag of blocks being changed, the same reason may still apply. If it is for the lag reason, possibly have a single day out of the month where the server is down for a day and andrew would get on, and do all applications. I personally would like seeing a player who was on in the time of the Word Edit Jobs thoughts' , preferably Ike or Revan, or unknown just because they would know better than most people.
because this would require world edit. i think a proper app.. located in the town features area would be made. probably by andrew or the admins. as for the price i think that your math is way off. 200x200=40000. 40000x10=400000. 400k not 4m. even still. i think its way too high. when i originally suggested this i thought it to be a town feature. such as town portals, etc. not some 1% of ecc affordable thing. 1ecd per 1 block. would be more reasonable. and only availible as a blanket for your whole town. 200x200 town would cost 40k.
Loool... hah.. I see what happened. I was testing out possible prices and at one point it was 100/block to make it 4M, so.. yeah I'm off by a bit. Okay, possibly 1/block, but what do you mean by blanket? And still make it a sub-forum so it's more clear to find the applications. There would still be lag due to blocks being changed all at once.
Well say I want to have part of my town metadata to be ocean, while another part is plains, or jungle.
i wouldnt doubt that people, including you, would like their town zoned with multiple biomes. it wouldnt be practical though. seeing other posts about possible downtime to do the world editting would mean that the town owners wont be on to oversee the change. the suggestion is hard enough to implement as is, adding multiple specific sized rezones would make it almost impossible to implement. no doubt that people regardless of price would be able to afford this. but for soo many people designating specific areas for rezone would make the, already labor intensive work, even harder. because this is my suggestion i would like it to remain simple. zone it all or not. asking something in the scale of getting admins/owner involved is hard enough as is. lets not complicate things further by asking too much.
The last time this was done was because I nagged andrew about it. :b But, the drawback is that andrew is the only person who does anything with worldedit and he will not give worldedit powers to anyone else. This means andrew would have to do all the biome change applications and that's why they weren't made available permanently. It's too much work for andrew. There's also an increased risk of chunk problems with this. Considering you're editing a chunk's biome, which in turn affects more things.
