Minecraft Name: UnitedStates2002 Suggestion: Move the BA/C section to the staff requests section (Same section as LWCs and grief reports.) Reason: Becuase they fit more in the staff requests section than the general section of the forums? Any Other Information: N/A Link To This Plugin: XenForo
I don't really see an issue with where it is. It's close to the top and easy to find. Not halfway down the page like the rest of the staff requests.
I support this if the Staff Requests section gets swapped with the Community forums (those things no one uses). Then it wouldn't be positioned any differently, and it would just make more sense where it is. Remember, it's still a Staff Request, not a "General."
Ban appeals are the lowest priority however, and either way, they don't belong in the "general" section...
Because general section is for general discussion between all players. Ban Appeals/Complaints aren't that way.
Help/Support threads aren't really for discussion either. However they do see the most traffic and keeping them a fairly convenient location I think is a must.
Am I allowed to post stuff on help and support threads? Yes Am I allowed to post stuff on ban appeals/complaints (unless it's relevant to the situation)? No. Anyway, ban appeals/complaints aren't supposed to be accessible. They're primarily for staff only.
So don't post where there's a big sticky thread saying you shouldn't unless you have relevant information? And who says ban appeals and complaints aren't supposed to be accessible? They should absolutely always be accessible for people to view/contribute relevant information.
I understand your thoughts on this issue and believe one of two things need to happen to eliminate this as a problem: 1. Strictly enforce the ban/complaint rules - by warning and removing every single infraction (not just hit and miss) and increasing punishment to include maybe 3 day forum bans after the second time instead of just warning over and over again. 2. Have the section exactly like the lwc section and mods add the parties as needed. The results will then be seen by all after a decision has been made. At that time if someone has more information against the felon, they may simply file another complaint like they are supposed to do anyway. Or if it would help the felon, it could be added in their appeal.
I agree with this statement completely. However, I do think that we need to move this section of the forums to the correct section.
That is true - I was just responding mainly to N6 who thinks it absolutely needs to be seen by everyone all the time that it would be great to enforce the rules or stop allowing posting unless approved.
I do agree that our policy has been somewhat lacking however we are constantly working towards an effective policy. As dewsy has stated on a suggestion before this, repeat offenders are finding themselves getting punishments issued with fewer/no warnings issued if they've already been given several warnings. Unfortunately with these policy changes you will not see instant results however I do believe you will see them. There are 2 main issues I have- One being that if we set it up like LWC's we can't simply add others to a list of people being able to post. We may be able to set up a per-post system but really I feel as if that would just mask the problem rather than fix it. As well your statement of "if it would help the felon" has an inherent problem being that if there is evidence to prove them innocent, then they are not a felon at all. Unjust bans are something I would prefer to avoid as they do harm the players directly whereas irrelevant posts look bad, sure, but really don't directly harm anyone.
Thank you N6 for your prompt response! I admit that the enforcement has been improving and the results are noticeable and very much appreciated! - it just seems those that are not able to help themselves wait a week or so and then start breaking the rules once again. I totally understand your comments about others being able to post (or not). I also agree that unjust bans should be avoided and I personally have done everything I can to try to do business so that I would never have to file a complaint on anyone. I even try to work out grief or other issues personally without using the complaint system where possible.
