Minecraft Name: UnitedStates2002 Suggestion: Allow use of the auction channel for auctioning things not compatible with the auction plugin such as towns and spawn shops. Reason: Becuase I want to still auction stuff like that. Any Other Information: N/A Link To This Plugin: Staff
In game auctions for towns shouldn't be allowed, period. The fast-paced setup doesn't give enough time for potential buyers to actually know what they're buying. As for spawnshops... just make a thread. Easier to explain location and concept and negotiate details.
N6 is exactly right on this. You can always let people know in trade and in a forum thread that you will auction a town locally - giving players time to see the town and evaluate the worth.
I've seen people auction towns for a long time, and it probably has been this way for the ~4 years until the auction plugin was added. I don't see what could possibly go wrong.
...I've seen tons of disputes in auction chat regarding towns, because people don't know that they're buying, people lying about the size of the town, stuff like that. People think that they're buying an alright town and it ends up being really griefed and people try to back out on technicalities (like a town advertised in auc as being 200x200 actually being 201x201). Not worth having to deal with those kind of spur-of-the-moment issues just because someone thinks it's too much effort to make a thread.
I have bidded on an auction town in-game and it was really difficult. It caused many problems and in the end no one got the town. It is just better to use the For Sale thread like I said. -1
Basically, what Nicit said. I took part in some town auctions in myself... there is rarely enough time to ask the major questions. Original/Official ownership? Spawn portal? Other town features? State of the town? (Value of materials, levels of grief etc.) I agree that town auctions should not be allowed ingame but only on the forum. -3.14 to this suggestion.
