Minecraft Name: Whammerist Suggestion: Have the ability to post a user complaint anonymously. Reason: Sometimes when you report someone, their friends can gang up on you and harass you. This even happens in some cases where the user themselves will gang up on you. If we add this suggestion, we can reduce the capacity for this to happen. I know sometimes it doesn't work, because people can identify you in your evidence, but in a lot cases this can help a player out, and relieve the stress posting a complaint can hold. NOTE: The complaints, if possible, will not be anonymous to mods, so troll complaints can be dealt with just as effectively. Any Other Information: Please don't take offense by this, as I am not posting this suggestion because of any specific person, rather, my personal experience with the complaint section as a whole. Link To This Plugin/Is this a custom addition? Nope, should be possible on XenForo
+1, fantastic idea. The only way I can see this feasibly working is making the entire section moderated just like with Staff Requests. Users shouldn't have to be afraid of filing complaints, along with the fact that this can prevent unnecessary posting on complaints. I fully will back this suggestion up, and hope this can be implemented. @Server Admin as I can't implement things as GA *crosses fingers* XD
Why can't we just privatize the complaints section as a whole? This is literally the probable outcome of this suggestion when you allow users to post complaints privately. The may be private for a couple of days, but after those days are up, it's completely public.
@oreo1227 @UnitedStates2 Some users will want to publicly post a complaint. Like, if I was loan scammed 100k, I'd post that publicly. I'd want people to see that, so we know if these users are trusted. But if we have a private sub-forum for some complaints, like complaints about harassment, slander, or personal issues, there should be private subforum to post these types of complaints. I think it should be a subforum, so people have an option.
HUGE -1, how can a user defend themselves when they don't even know that a complaint has been posted against them? Secondly, other users may have additional evidence to add to the complaint. And finally, reading the complaints section is quite hilarious at times, so -1 for that reason as well. This might seem like a good idea, but the current system works well. You know the saying... "If it's not broken, don't fix it."
what about the evidence? how can you have evidence without their names in it and remain anonymous - people will still be able to recognize you based on your screenshots or videos
These posts would become public upon closing. Things would be handled differently if the entire section is hidden. Perhaps we have another system for it. We may have Staff message a user in forum pm/in-game or such if a defense is needed. There are solutions to these issues. As for the evidence part? One can file their own complaint. As for entertainment? You can see it after.
I'm actually starting to lean towards a18 on this. Complaints are public for a reason and when having the option to make them private, you open the doors to abuse, like in the cases said above.
Also would like to address, for anonymous sake, would be difficult. Perhaps the entire section is hidden, and if a user wants their complaint anonymous, they make a note. (This could require a new question in the format asking if you want your complaint anonymous upon closure)
The current system is sufficient. Sure, there may be a few issues, but most of that is due to the staff team's failure to handling threads in a timely and professional manner. Why make the staff team have more work when they can't handle the few things they have to do now? That seems to also add more work for our already dysfunctional staff team.
I love you @a18greek18 but, this is actually a good idea. I have never been a fan of the drama on this server. Making this section a hidden section would prevent a lot of this drama. Plus couldn't the mods tag anyone that has relevant input to a particular situation. I think there could also be a public section of all users actually banned and the reason that they are banned to let all of the community know what has happened for our safety against scammers. This should also be a section that no user can comment on. @Whammerist5 I may have been wrong about you! Absolute +1~~
+1 million. For example I've had a situation in which this would have made me supremely more comfortable and I was sweating bullets for a few days due to the delays in the system and the public nature of complaints. It would be great if the complaints could be separated into a section for non-anonymous financial disputes (because in this case it needs to not be anonymous) and a hidden section similar to the staff complaint forms for complaints of basic rule breaking that can be proven with simple screenshot evidence and doesn't need to be public and in fact would be better if it wasn't public. It would eliminate so many troll complaints. The only exception I can think is perhaps hacking complaints where other users are able to supply more evidence but either the people who also have evidence can be sort of forum pmed into the complaint or they could also be handled publicly. It would also make things easier for mods because it would be less of a circus. People would stop posting irrelevant comments because they simply wouldn't be able to.
I do love the concept of having complaints as semi-private, but his idea is not the solution, nor would it be effective.
