Minecraft Name: AdmiralD Suggestion: I am suggesting that the server (in the form of a sticky note) require all alt accounts or family/friends/pets/neighbors/or just persons that happen to live in your building that connect thru your router register with the server immediately. Reason: If I do not wish to deal with Player A, I do not feel it is fair that I have to deal with Player A calling him/herself Player B now. In addition, it would be nice for all of us to know all family, friends, etc... as well. Any Other Information: I understand that staff is expected to be notified of family, however, nothing is done about alt accounting at this time. It would also be nice for this to be publicly registered instead of some hidden log somewhere so that we players are able to make decisions who we make deals (especially those that involve real dollars) with. I feel that this would not add much, if any, more effort than is currently required by staff and it should not be much more difficult to keep than our staff thread I believe. Link To This Plugin: There is no plug in that I am aware of - it would have to be tracked much like our staff thread is handled now.
+1 I do like things to be public. Transparency makes any environment more friendly/safe for everyone involved.
Agreed - pretty much everyone knows my two sons and daughter play on ECC (though mainly inactive at this time) but I would like it to me even more transparent and available for anyone to easily find.
only problem I see with this is when players want to have an alt account that the community doesn't know it's them, especially when it is for not malicious purposes, such as ranking up as a builder again, without the community knowing who you are.
That's about as illegal as you can get I would think. Anyways, I don't mind a bit of transparency. However, before staff releases anything, they should have the consent of the player providing it. If that is done, then +1.
Gernen (you are a Nub ), however, I understand what you are saying and believe that is why it should go thru the moderators before placing on the thread. That said, how many builders are we now seeing ranking up or having thousands of dollars to lotto with in a very short time. We all know there are many ways that these players are getting around no interaction between them. I still wish there was somebody that was able to monitor these abnormal earnings that we are seeing lately. I trust the staff more than enough to determine if a player is a troll or scammer with malicious intent or not. I still stand that all family/friends/pets/neighbors should still be public knowledge.
I don't know if I understand this... Whats the point in having a thread like this? Staff already log users who are on the IP and so on...
I think admiral wants to make that list public (without private ips and stuff) so people can associate alts with main accounts.
My concern with alt accounts - I do feel we all should know and that it should be required for them to be registered with staff. Like I stated in my suggestion - If we do not wish to deal with player "a", we should know that player "b" is actually that same player. We are talking about irl money sometimes and that takes it a step above just playing a game. This alt accounts are completely out of control at this time. As for family and friends - there is no reason not to require this to be public knowledge unless there is something to hide. I hope this clears this up for you @Vintage_Gamer and shows that it is not being nosey, it is that this being public knowledge helps us as players to decide our fate when dealing with our community. Perhaps you or @Dccciz could explain why this information should be withheld from the community. I am not asking for their personal information such as ip addresses and such, I just feel alt accounts should be made known or face harsher punishments if used for the purpose of scams or trolling. Given the recent run of alt account scams and trolls, the current method is obviously flawed. If I make deals with players that are just using alt accounts, there is no protection for me as a player - and though it is a game, I have spent thousands of hard earned dollars to help good players benefit and enjoy features they may not otherwise be able to have access to. Since it is my money and do not wish to, or feel that I should have to deal with anyone that I should not want to, this information needs to be public.
There's a positive side to this, as it reduces scams from alt accounts. However, the negative side is that people sometimes want to privately play on the server, as a different identity. I guess the scammers have to ruin it for everyone though :/
To my knowledge, it is required to let staff know of alt account. Besides that, I see your point now.
I agree with you on both points and maybe someone much smarter than me could make this happen so that it is not ruined for all players - especially those that make the decision to play nice and follow the rules. I personally did not know that about alt accounts - I have only seen anything about family and friends. Obviously our system has some flaws that need to be worked out since the recent rash of older, established accounts now using this alt account method to scam millions from unsuspecting players. Not to mention we just had a well known and loved moderator that was an alt account. That is beyond scary to me that it was not caught long before it was (and I am not sure but maybe would not have been caught if it was not admitted to). That said, I can only imagine the amount of work that would required to monitor this better, but we do have some excellent developers that I believe could develop a quick log search program to better monitor ip and account usage in addition to some mathematical formula to determine if an account at least needs to be reviewed - there is a reasonable amount expected to be earned in a given amount of time - and someone who joins the server and immediately has tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars to blow on lottery should be a concern. I appreciate both of you responding.
I think we should ban alt accounts or accounts on the same Ip unless they are family/friends edit or staff accounts
I thought this was already done by staff who log who has siblings on the same IP if I remember correctly.
