hread Title: Very short description of suggestion. Minecraft Name: pex666 Your In-game Minecraft Name. Suggestion: What are you suggesting? I was scammed for 45k, i had pic + witness of the deal, but not the actual auction. This was not enough for ban or even canceling the deal. Admins refused to go trough logs where they could have seen the actual auction. Then a second complaint came in so now they took a look at the logs and saw that i was correct. I was then told he was banned, but he wasnt, or you lifted it. So the scammer logged in and used the money in the lottery. Then you banned him... Now i dont have any chance of getting my money back, nor the others. And i understand that if he would have given MY money to a friend (or another account) you wouldnt have reacted on that neither. Since everything now is 100% clear i think I should get my money back. But i understand that wont happen. So i wish that you in the future work out how to better handle scammers because now its like a bad joke....
Thank you. Yeah its almost like they favor scammers and other ppl who wants to destroy. Instead they should focus on keeping the serious players happy. Fixing this and giving me my money back is not hard. I played quait alot and i contributed 150$ or something, What have krickie done? Probably not 10% of what i did...
It's a huge pain going through the logs, seeing as only two(?) different people can do it right now. Scamming happens all the time, and those who have access to the logs have many many other duties to take care of. Just yesterday morning there was only one person I believe who was capable of doing this, and he already had like an 8 hour workload on the server alone. Adding every single scam into his workload would easily add hours. The bigger the server, the more impossible it is to find something in the logs, the more impossible it is to find time to do so, and the more scams there are. There is absolutely nothing wrong with them saying no to going through the logs. If they find they do actually have time, they might do it, however you must understand that this is very rare and you must get your own evidence most of the time through screenshots if possible. This makes the job able to both be done by staff members and makes it go by tons quicker. Also - it's also said in numerous places on this forum and the wiki, etc. That money will not be returned if you are scammed. It's your responsibility to not get scammed. Reason being that it would be extremely easy for someone to abuse the system, it would be tons of work by the two people who can even refund it, and it's not hard to make a mistake and do something like accidentally add a 0 to a number when refunding someone and completely screw up the economy. It's really delicate and not worth the time. It's extremely rare anyone ever gets refunded. Trade with someone who isn't a builder, and residents carefully. Mayors above are usually fine as long as you are careful, they won't risk getting banned. I have done many many trades on the server and not ever been scammed before, yet still get my desired items. There is lots of people to trade with, you just have to look in the right place. Screenshots are good to take as well to make sure that if you do get scammed, they can get punished. Even the most trusted users on the server it's worth doing for, you never know what's going on in their minds. Finally, I would like to say a few things: One being that it would be a lot easier to handle scammer complaints if they had direct evidence. (Like screenshots.) People getting unbanned is common - on this server, almost everyone gets a second chance, so long as they make a proper appeal and actually think about their ban. This means that almost anyone could get unbanned, you never know, and there is nothing wrong with that. That person got unbanned, maybe he spent the money in lottery, etc... but the money didn't need to be refunded really. He's been warned heavily, and he had possibly had a long tempban, even if he still doesn't deserve the money, it's not like he can get away with it again. It can effect his reputation on the server (some people underestimate how important that is sometimes...) and he has to run the risk of not being unbanned. If he really wants to be a jerk and use that as a way to get "easy" money, than he will, but that doesn't change the fact that upon doing it again, being unbanned is not nearly as easy, and that there will be people who refuse to trade with him, etc. The last thing you want is to have the entire server know you're a "scammer", it's happened before, and those who get called that can have a really hard time, seeing as it's an economy server and nobody trusts you anymore, even if you learned your lesson... If he wants to choose the bad guy path, so be it, you won't get refunded, and he gets in huge trouble. ...Yeah, this isn't a small server. If you've spent your time on smaller servers, this makes plenty of sense, but here, it's not only a lot harder to do, but it happens far more often. Your trade wasn't any more special than the next, they won't have time to check the logs for it most of the time. The fact you got the logs checked for one of them already is extremely lucky on your part. TL;DR: The staff handle it to the best of their ability - just make sure you trade with trusted users and have screenshots to both prevent scams and make sure they can be handled by the staff. You're money will not be returned. Maybe they did get unbanned and kept the money for their own use, but it wasn't worth it on their part, trust me.
