Minecraft Name: KingCharlie9 Suggestion: Add the 'Funny' forum rating to the forums. I think it's a default rating, but I'm not sure. We can always graphic design a new one. Reason: There have been many situations, where I, feel that a post is funny, and I want to rate it as such. Posts that include @a_man21 's puns need to be rated funny. This would be a nice addition, and I think people would respond with it after a month or two having it at their disposal. The funny rating once was a forum rating but it was removed due to the amount of people who were really upset about getting funny ratings on their staff apps.
So why not just disable ratings altogether in the staff applications and BA/C section? Not only would that eliminate such complaints, but it'd also go a long way towards making posts in these sections professional/relevant by removing the incentive to post stupid shit to get ratings (As you can't get any!). People catch onto these things, you know (Heck, we've had this rating for less than 3 years. But in the meantime, there's been literally hundreds of complaints about it from people who are upset about getting rated.) - So why keep the potato rating by this logic? And say we do decide to remove it - People will simply shift to the creative rating. Remove that, useful rating. And so on. Remember back in early 2015 and late 2014 when we just had winner, like, friendly and agree? People then used the "friendly" rating as the negative rating. Eventually we're just going to be at the point of removing all the ratings except "Like" - And then what was the point of us paying for the Xenforo Ratings plugin in the first place? The fact of the matter is that people will find ways to abuse literally anything. Let's ban chat and the forums since people will use it as a platform for trolling or harassment. Let's ban selling mining materials since people can use for it for x-raying. Let's ban ECC since people use it as a platform for causing all sorts of trouble! But I still like the forums and chat, I still like to make my money (insofar that I do) via mining and I still like to play on ECC. Sure, ratings can cause problems - But they're also fun things too, things that I (along with many other users) like to use to express ourselves. I happen to believe that the gains in fun from ratings outpace whatever losses may occur via abuse of them. (Not to mention, it's also a bit funny that on a server that passes off actual toxicity/harassment as "SG banter" some of the same people get upset over forum ratings, but that's aside the point.)
