to stop looting tell all builders to lock all their chest if could put a stop to this the servers would have more people then the servers would be like a lot more i have be told by a builder he did not like this servers
Most people I have looted where rich presidents+ that have quit. I don't think anyone would waste there time looting a builder with maybe $300-500 in there chest. Also, most people aren't looting builders who haven't locked there chest. They are looting people who have been offline for 6+ months or whatever and there chest have been unlocked. If you have any questions I would be happy to answer them! Also I think this may be in the wrong section so i'll tag some mods to move it to general or something :/ @Caitlin_Crime @ze7707 @DiamondDesire @GeorgiaMC
I feel bad for all of those who have had their things looted. Even though they have been offline for a long period of time, I still feel bad. They could always come back. I've lost over 20k worth of stuff to it. But, ah well, some people might stop.
Everybody here, from Mayors to EcoLegends, has been a Builder at some point. This means we shouldn't take advantage of and hate Builders like someone explicitly stated somewhere (<chough-chough> @stoler202), but this also means that every Builder has the opportunity to grow and become EcoLegend, if they are wise and work hard, so we shouldn't protect them from themselves. I'm sorry, but I disagree. There's a tutorial for Builders teaching the very basics, including how to lock a chest. If you have an unprotected chest, it means that either: you don't have anything valuable or that you care for in it you acted carelessly toward your most precious belongings you completely forgot about their existence in the first place If there's an unprotected chest, it's an open invitation to loot. You know it, we know it, everybody knows it. But if you really really think that anything should be done, then maybe it could be a video tutorial on youtube. I acknowledge that some people are too lazy to go around the tutorial reading signs in order to learn something (though, in my humble opinion, if you are that lazy, you deserve what you get).
@willalmighty03 - it is unfortunate, but recent changes in our lwc system made to reduce lag will mean this is a problem that will continue to exist until something better is figured out. A warning in case you have missed it, this will happen every December of each year under certain circumstances explained in the Wiki.
I only looted very inactive people, and it would be kinda rude to loot active builders. But they need to learn to read the rules. If they do not lock their chests then I don't think they have read the rules throughout. Almost every server in existence has /lock. If they didn't know how to use it they could ask.
I am the mayor of a town, not the original owner. I allowed builders to get plots there for free when they needed a safe place to start. I never had one of those builders grief. Many of them either get a nice chunk of change and move on to bigger and better things, or become inactive. A few have come back after many months to see that I never LWC'd their items. I was told during the 30 day waiting period I could not lock their chests for safe keeping. Then the 30 days was lifted and I came online to find many of their chests looted. I wish their was a way to distinguish inactive player from inactive town. I would have loved to protect their things. But with that said, I am not above seeing an unlocked chest and going through it. I don't need anything, it is just the word *free* has such an appeal. I would hope that the owner of the items I took did really become inactive and don't miss their items. But I may never know. This was a debacle, and I think things will be differently going forward. We just have to chalk it up as one of the low points and help each other out. If a builder/resident ask what happened or where there stuff went, help them out. I'll still go into unlocked chests going forward, but I'll also respect the players that were taken from and need to be restored. Some of the chests are abandoned things from banned/inactive users. They are legitimate booty. I just hope I help/give more than I take or hurt. It's all I can do.
Why didn't they LWC their items? You locking chests just makes them yours. You've always been allowed to raid unlocked chests anyway.
Well said Emau! Especially the part about it being a low point (I really do not know how this could have been handled worse) and that we need to help each other out. That is what we do as a community. I also had great members of my towns that I was unable to protect their unlocked chests due to the rules. And yet those that decided to break those rules and "steal" received minimum, if any, punishment.
