An observation of mine is that, of late (couple weeks/month max), players have been working harder than every to undercut everyone else. What this has done is essentially crashed the market and made certain items completely worthless. Examples: Diamonds, Emeralds, E-Repairs, and etc. just throwing this out there....
I agree with this. These things that made you jump for joy make it normal and so its like "meh, diamonds." Anyway, I think we should all sell this things for higher prices, the seller makes more money and raises the prices up in diamonds and emeralds. Win Win situation!!!
"Maybe," the best method for diamonds would be for andrewkm to do a very limited event where diamonds can be sold to the server for $100 or some other number. This would reduce the number of them in circulation and thus increase their value. That ^^ would not help with services. Services will increase in value if the lowballers lose interest and/or quit the server, OR if players collude on price fixing.
Another option would be that when doing an enchanted repair, there is a set price deducted from your account, per an item, since there is then, a fee that happens when repairing, no more free e repairs! ; p
I don't see whats too wrong with this this is a economy server, in the real world economy people are at each others throats to get more money or a type of advantage so im not personally to worried
In the case of goods, or services, the sellers will always attempt to charge what they think the market will bear. The buyers are always looking for the best deal for their money. It's not surprising that a virtual economy would in some way mirror our own.
I kid you not i told the whole chat a couple of days ago that this was exactly the problem! But i do agree
I see your points, but since this is not a real economy and therefore doesn't have real world implications, players are not as careful about their products and services. In their opinions they can rightfully sell say e-repairs for $10 because they are still making money and getting more offers by being cheaper.
I should certainly hope that I could sell a donation feature service for whatever I wanted to, given that I was the one who dished out real money for a virtual service. Not that I wouldn't have donated anyway, to have the extra functionality for myself. There still needs to be balance, even with price undercutting, that's also a mirror of a real economy. If you go too low you end up with more work and less profit. If you do 10 repairs @ $10 and I do one repair @ $100, we've both made the same, but you have had to meet up with more people, do more repairs, etc. Time spent, in addition to work done, is valuable... and if you don't think that's accurate, you haven't met a lawyer or a shrink.
it really is a matter of the freedom of people to do what they want with the time and money they have. if people are free to sell things for what ever they want to sell them to and people are free to buy things for the lowest price is available. if there are people willing to sell things cheep then they may get more business and the market will just have to adjust. complaining about this will solve nothing. while this may not be very realistic because of people's disregard for how much money and time they waste, that is part of the system that we have to deal with. the beauty of a free market is its adaptability. you may just have to adapt yourself. while the lower prices may not be great for those who rely on selling diamonds and donation features, it is good for those who don't have a lot of money and my be just starting out. those people are very important to the server too. there are many ways to make money on ecc. if the prices of certain things seem to be too low for you right now, then you need to try something else. i know that nobody likes change but being able to adapt is something that really sets some apart. those are the ones that will be really successful. and there is always farming and selling to the infinite demand of the admin shops.
