@Revanrose6 I have two. When is the auction ending? (The 11PM est is somewhat unclear, not sure if that means today or not) What does round one mean?
But haven't previous auctions been announced BEFORE the shop has expired? The app rules say that once the clock hits 12:01AM, that shop is up for grabs. This decision to do a retroactive auction, AFTER the apps were already in, in my opinion violates the spirit of this server being a "hardcore economy". Is this a sudden change, or is it more like staff dropped the ball somewhere? If you want to auction high-value expiring shops, staff ought to keep their eye on which shops are expiring. In my view @_TANSTAAFL was the rightful winning bidder of that auction shop.
Thank you @Revanrose6 for clarifying the date and time. I am still confused by the round one statement - does that mean that there will be another round of bidding after that date?
While this might be true, the idea of someone getting free millions is still one I don't like, even if everyone has the chance to get it. This was removed now, I think.
Well, that's a good point. It's a peculiar way to earn millions... maybe staff should just amend the rules or something.
Thank you for your concern Nico, but we have always auctioned these particular shops if they expire and from what I understand the players who applied for it were likely aware. It is not a new action by administration, simply one we haven't done in a while. Those shops cost millions for a reason and we would be wrong to allow it to be a first come first serve on those particular shops. Welcome to the actual hard core economy where it costs millions to buy a premium spot that allows you to make millions. In my opinion this makes complete sense as it always has.
ok fair enough. I remember at least one time where the app went through but I guess that was an anomaly.
Just curious, but why is it going to take 2 weeks to auction it off? I mean that seems a bit long but i may just be impatient to see who gets it >.<
Is there any possibility that auction time gets decreased, considering pervious auctions have been done in a matter of hours?
I think it is this length because it was such short notice, this gives people time to gather the money.
Actually, you haven't 'always' auctioned these shops. The Big shops from the old marketplace have always been auctioned. But the second tier shops have been allowed to go to free-for-all in every single case except one. Seeing as how I had to clear my shop out in order to properly apply for Station 67, it feels particularly unfair to be told after the fact that I tore down my shop for nothing.
Station 67 was one of the top floor shops at the old marketplace. All 1st and 2nd row shops were. So the auction was justified. I do, however, agree that there should have been some notice prior to it expiring.
I know, but top floor shops were always allowed to be claimed in the past (with the exception of the giant shops and except for one other instance). I can think of at least 5 times that a top floor shop was allowed to be claimed.
I protest this decision. The administration really screwed this up. Iticip will win the auction at $2.5 million, while the rightful owner is _TANS. _TANS cleared his shop, wasting his time, when that shop should be his. Iticip sold his shop to Sinder33, so now 3 people are involved. I highly recommend this be fixed, and not turn into another Eben48 situation...
I'd just like to point out, this is not the case. Eben48's shop, a small one in the old market, was also going to be auctioned. As Kmax stated here: As this is a top floor shop location we will be giving Andrewkm a chance to auction it off should he wish to. **EDIT** If an auction is not held, we will revisit this application to see if you would qualify for the rental at that time. It's obviously something that has been, and will be taken into consideration. Eben was able to regain the shop, because he had a valid excuse to why he didn't; he was in the hospital. That being said, this should no longer be a debate. There is no point in accusing Revan of making the wrong choice, because it wasn't one.
The Eben48 situation is highly debatable, about it's outcome as he was online 3 hours before his shop time expired, hence why he said that. Given he was online, that's why it should've been up for claiming.
