This thread was brought to you by, the last time I made a thread like this: https://ecocitycraft.com/forum/threads/staff-q-a-thread.68919/ The rules will be almost identical, please read them over anyways! Hello Users of ECC, the staff team has decided that there are many questions that have been unanswered, or there is information the users wish to know about us, so we have decided to make this thead to have you ask us questions. This is how it would work; "User asks @pbrassat17; pbrassat17 how long have you been a moderator?" He would then respond, he has the right to deny a question, however if he feels comfortable answering it, he will. This can be done for any staff member, or you can direct a question at the general ECC Staff team, this means not tagging any of our staff but instead just doing something along the lines of "User asks whole team; ECC Staff What is your favorite part of being on the staff team?" This will either be done by one moderator+, or by multiple. THREAD RULES We do have a few rules that go along with our Q&A thread, breaking these rules may result in the post being deleted or a forum warning handed out and in more serious cases, a thread ban. The rules include the following: 1. There is to be no tag spamming 2. There is to be no inappropriate questions 3. The staff have the choice to not answer any question of their choices. 4. There is to be no trolling in this thread 5. There is to be no discussion of banned users, or why users were banned. 6. The staff team will not answer any questions about server plugins, or things of that sort. 8. There is to be no tagging of Andrewkm, ClarinetPhoenix, or UnitedStates2 NOTE This thread is not for issues relating to rules or problems. If you have an issue PM a moderator directly. If you are unsure about what you can post here, PM me directly and I will help you figure it out.
Rule 7... is a mirage in the distance... it is... there yet not... never to be read but always to be questioned.... On a real note, I copied most of this from the previous thread so... Idk why I messed that up in 2013 and am debating leaving it this way for old times sake.
Uh that would be a question for some of the staff who were here near the dawn of ECC. @welikeike22 @UnknownRider might know.
Each rank has different roles and responsibilities. The higher the rank, the more (important) responsibilities.
also worth noting that our current SAs handle a lot of the day-to-day work of the COs but they also are effectively SAs with a lot more prestige due to a long time served.
Blue mods typically handle most user complaints and contracts. Supermods handle most ban appeals, LWC/chest shop removals and requests, and grief reports. Supermods as a whole probably have the most forum work on a day to day basis, since there are usually lots of LWC requests filed each day, plus they have to keep track of ban appeals and grief reports as well. Not to say the other ranks don't have a lot of work to do though, there are lots of rank and town applications too! Game Admins handle most applications for ranks and towns/town features. Server Admins usually help out with keeping the staff team together and running as smooth as possible, as well as handling larger/more complex issues with the server that other staff might not be able to handle. They also find lost tools. Not sure exactly about the co-owners since I've never been one but I imagine they handle more issues pertaining to the server itself and keeping the economy in check, and basically help Andrew out with whatever he needs. All ranks help out with answering questions and moderate chat in game. Higher ranking/more experienced staff members help out other staff members who need help. Edit to add in a little more: When I say "most" of one particular item are handled by a certain rank, usually that rank handles those unless there is a complication, for example most user complaints are handled by blue moderators, however complaints pertaining to things like killing other users, hacking, automation, etc would be passed up to the Game Admins or Server Admins, since those accusations are complex situations that someone would need a lot of experience with ECC and Minecraft in order to adequately handle, plus some could require looking at Server logs, same thing with ban appeals.
To any staff: What is something that you guys do that people who were never on the staff team before might not know about? Edit: phrasing
a_man’s post sums this up pretty well, and just to add on to it, Co-Owner is not an “achievable” staff rank, meaning that if United or Clar were to leave myself or stolio would not be promoted to their place, like how a new GA would if one left. United and Clar have both earned a significant amount of Andrew’s trust and are essentially his “right hand men” for various areas. They also have many more permissions, but I won’t go into that. Unlike us puny Server Admins, their roles are not clearly defined and they basically can handle anything and everything. They do have their specialities though, like Clar with events and United with economy management. If you had asked me on my first day on the server, absolutely not. I didn’t even expect to apply for staff, let alone become as involved as I am now with the server. I definitely didn’t see myself being here over a year later. (Very glad I still am though) After many months as GA I definitely hoped for it, but I was never really expecting to get it.
