(sorry for the very long title) Minecraft Username: Awesomah Brief Description: When a stack of some mobs fall to their death, their non-increasable special drops (such as Sponge from Elder Guardian and Golden Sword from Zombie Pigman etc.) drop enough loot of 1 mob only, instead of that amount multiplied my the amount of mobs in the stack. Instructions: Hit and drop a stack of elder guardians to their death. How many times did you recreate this?: 2 Result: The stack (44x) of elder guardians dropped only 1 sponge. Expected Result: 44x stack of elder guardians to drop 44 sponges upon falling to death Evidence: Can't provide any evidence atm, i'm sorry. I'm typing this from my phone :/
elder guardians only drop sponges if killed by a player (similar to how it's determined whether or not a mobs death will drop xp) if you're using an autokill spawner and not interacting with them at all, you won't get sponges
If you read more carefully you would have seen that i managed to get a sponge drop. Because i hit the stack of mobs before they fell which let me get the sponge. If the mentioned issue was not a thing, there would be 500 sponges dropped.
I did read it, and I'm not sure that's really how it's intended though, iirc only fall damage affects the entire stack. Quoting andrew from a post explaining it "-When a stack of mobs dies from fall damage, the ENTIRE stack will die properly. - When a stack of mobs dies from any other kind of damage, only ONE mob from that stack will die." It seems to me at least that if everything is functioning properly, the punch would really only register on the top mob and the rest would simply die resulting in a singular "rare" drop. Did you get the proper # of drops for the other guardian loot?
That clarifies things up and i think that is enough for decline of this thread, i guess i should have read the news more carefully. Yes i did
