Spawn Location Overhaul

    I personally believe that we should revamp the spawn location. As it stands, it can be very confusing to new players and offers no assistance to the commands/rules/ranks etc. about the server. While we do have the wiki normal new users wouldn't go to the wiki. Changing the spawn to have a tutorial area would be a great thing for new users to use. I will start working on one in creative mode to offer a more affirmative suggestion. My current idea would be to have the users spawn further away from the current spawn and then have a pathway that goes straight there for users who have been through the tutorial/walk area. For those who haven't, they would veer off the path to different rooms that would have different signs about different topics. Such rooms would be Rules, Ranks, Aether, Commands, Towns, Griefing type sections.

    This is a good idea, I like it, may I suggest having the tutorial area underneath spawn? Layers 10-40? There's no wrong answers when suggesting a suggestion in a suggestion right? /confuserightnow
    And maybe a portal at the end to teleport them to real spawn?

    My only problem with spawns on servers that have this information is that is encourages users to not look at the Wiki or Forums at all. By not looking at the Wiki and Forums, you will not catch updates, and there will be even more questions later in-game that could be harder to answer. Users also would become too lazy to look at the Wiki for applications such as Resident applications... Or general information that would require tons of signs.

    Having tons of signs, even if sorted into subject-room, can be hard to read with many players around, and chat would be distracting. And with all the information we have about the server and commands, you'd need many, many rooms, and that would be overwhelming to a new user. Or, you'd have fewer rooms, with millions of signs, which is just as overwhelming.

    This is partly personal opinion, and partly by going off what I've seen on other servers. I really would rather a user be encouraged to view the Wiki and Forums, and have time to not be overwhelmed with all the activity of a large server. Give them time to read things - If they don't want to go the Wiki or Forum, that is their fault. :/ I do want more users, but overwhelming them with tons of rooms, portals, and/or signs won't work, either.

    I think a small basic tutorial room is fine but if they want to know more then they should go to the wiki/forums.

    It doesn't have to be extensive. But just some type of welcome with basic rules for builders, and the prospect of towns and owning stuff. Pretty much it would be a new user FAQ area.
