Hey Andrew, I know I'm super late to the party and this post is mostly useless now, but I'm curious why it was designed to have the new spawn set up exactly like the old spawn (arraignment.) I mean, since this is a 'New Rising,' shouldn't it incorporate new ideas and new concepts. For me personally, I really hate the fact that the 4 bordering towns can completely seal in the spawn area. I know, I know, there are the wild commands, but for newer players, chat can fill up quickly and the chat suggestions given upon connection can be overlooked or otherwise not seen. I made a quick crappy ms paint picture of a different layout suggestion. Actually I'd kind of like to see a questionnaire/idea thread started to pool ideas from the community to format the best spawn area possible. I left off sizes of the bordering towns on the image because I don't think that spawn 'has' to be limited to 100x100 or 200x200.
What about people that want bordering towns? Besides, the main world isn't meant for builders wandering around and gather/mining/whatever, that's all the mining world.
How far out do you make those paths 'unclaimable'? Because where ever you end it can, the players can close it off by claiming the edge of it. Unless you plan on making those paths unclaimable all the way to the border of the world, it seems like this just complicates the issue without solving anything. Even more pressing, you do realize that unless you make them protected like spawn, that within days, they will just be holes to bredrock. Which kind of defeats the purpose of them, right?
