Please excuse any bad writing, I'm exhausted, but I felt that this needed to be written. As soon as I log in, I get spammed with relentless messages in global, pm, etc about how bad that this new anticheat is, and how much "lag" (notice the quotations.) it causes for you. All the "false" kicks it does, and the other so called "problems". Our old anti-cheat plugin was, in my opinion, horrid. I tested on serveral different clients, on several different hacks, and they all worked. Without denying me ability to use it, and it didn't even kick me. This new anti-cheat, although it made us aware of a critical exploit that was only available for the short 12-16 hour period from when we first implemented it, to when we rolled it back. (We promptly fixed this thanks to help from KHobbits.) It is infinitely better. Sure, it makes your life a little bit more difficult while we tune it, but it is eon's better than our old one. To quote konsolas, the developer of the new anti cheat we use: "There are full and public bypasses for OLDAntiCheat. You can find a completely free and public speed bypass on CLIENT1, and a completely free and public fly bypass on CLIENT2, or you could pay for CLIENT1's fly bypass." The main problem for this is that our old anti-cheat plugin is fully open source, meaning that any hack developers have full access to any loopholes or flaws there may be in the plugin. Thanks to your reports of all the bypasses and things that you were able to do, about half of them were valid, and were fixed by konsolas. Now. </rant> FAQ: Q: I keep getting block break/place issues; I want anticheat removed. A: No, we are not going to remove it, but we will be investigating this, and then posting a report on what we believe is an issue, or we will tweak our config. Q: I keep getting kicked for KillAura; what do I do? A: This is usually based on your hitting patterns. Try to adjust your hitting patterns, or try not to hit the flying people above your head. They come in peace. Post any questions below, and I'll do my best to answer them. Be warned, troll questions/posts will be deleted and you will be threadbanned.
I don't hate the new anti cheat system. I have never liked hackers and am glad we have a system that finally stops them (as are many people). What annoys many players, including myself is that there isn't a lot of feedback on the bugs that people see happening in game. In the Help/Support section you see a lot of reports and a common response is something along the lines of "Yeah this happens" or "Its you". See https://www.ecocitycraft.com/forum/threads/bug-report-placing-blocks.146326. No one sees any progress or attempts to solve these problems that are actually very detrimental to game play (especially the block placing bug). So as a player all of the sudden you see all these super annoying bugs pop up, you don't know what is being done to fix it if anything and you're a bit peeved. This thread is the first time I've heard that the block placing bug is being worked on. I'm glad that these bugs are being addressed and I look forward to a good, bug free anti cheat to replace our old awful one. But until we get there I think that you will have upset people, especially when they don't know whats going on. TL;DR People don't hate the new anti-cheat. I'm glad we have a new anti cheat. What people are upset at and understandably so is that no information is given to this about the bugs and what is being done to fix them and it seems like they are just being ignored. A little transparency goes a long way. -RyanBlocks2
Thanks for the clarification Jamie. I would like to also point out this thread --> https://www.ecocitycraft.com/forum/threads/bug-slime-block-wont-work.146207/ , as it seems to have something with some sort of "fly blocker" (I really don't know any terminology, or really anything that goes on "Behind the scenes"). But I'm sure you have already seen that (max height of which you can jump onto the slime blocks without glitching back is about ~20 blocks). Thanks a million for all of the hard work you and the developers/staff/Andrew have done in this very busy time. I am sure 1.9, EULA and Anticheat have the entire staff team overloaded.
I personally have yet to run into any issues with the new anti-cheat. The only minor thing i could see trying to tweak is the particle effects of these seemingly peaceful ghosts roaming the server (if that's at all possible)
You get that too? I was certain that a vanished player was following me, but the vanish was glitching every once in a while. Gave me the shivers ;-;
I have had only a few very mild run ins with it. People just don't get that launching something like this isn't going to be perfect immediately. I am certain they are addressing it all as fast as they can. Thanks for all the hard work, team.
As was said before, thanks for the heads up. As one of those who posted in the mentioned threads let me re-iterate the sentiment just stated. We don't hate the anti-cheat outright. We understand the need for it. But we also hope it will be improved upon. We are just trying to be vocal on the issues so they can be addressed. The squeaky wheel gets the oil syndrome. I understand I have no *behind the scenes* knowledge and can only assume/hope that this new system is the upgrade on stopping hackers that it is being touted to be. Personally, for myself, I apologize if I used the wrong tone in my.... ?complaint? I do appreciate the work you (developers/staff/etc) do. While RyanBlocks2 and I may disagree completely on another thread at the moment, we are in 100% agreement on this one.
We do work on them, while gathering info. We don't make it public because there isn't a need to/we can't due to privacy of security. If there is an advancement then we will post and update you all.
Are you seriously saying there isn't a better solution? If you haven't realized in the heat of the moment you're swinging to hit, you shouldn't simply be kicked for missing.
I never said we're not working on it. Anyway, this is the current best fix for it that we have found. We're working on it.
I agree with xx3 some people have tuned their sg skills to when they hear people behind them they turn and hit and if your anti cheat kicks people because of acquired sg skills this is a problem. I havnt been on to see anything with the anti cheat but this sounds theoretically bad.
I think that maybe it would be good to tweak that last question, Jamie. As you can see, a FAQ claimed that people "flying above your head" were not to be hit. I guess this means players jumping over you from a height greater than yours. Avoiding hitting people just because of anti cheat is an awesome way to demolish a player's pvp style. Also, dismantling our Pvp strategies in order to fit an anti-cheat is just silly, as there is no reason to bother with sg if everyone has to "go easy" on one another because they don't want to trigger an anti-cheat and get kicked from the sg. As I haven't tried it at this time due to my inactivity on the server, I don't think it's my place to make an official judgment thus far, however I'd like to leave this note to all players and Jamie posting on this thread or intrigued by the topic. Thanks.
Keep it up Jamie, you have been putting in a ton of hours recently and I can see your frustration, as do many others. It must really suck to just get bitched at all day when you get out of /v. You are appreciated, keep it up.
