Based on Michael’s suggestion, for applying for builder, I have a suggestion/idea that I saw on an old alpha server I was a part of. It consists of a building area, “Sandbox” that anyone can build in. It is a free build area meant for the people just whitelisted who have come on the server. Keeping with Michael’s idea of applying for builder, people would have to build in the sandbox area, which would consist of a large glassed in area (like 50x50) with like a dirt bottom and some stacks of logs. People would have to show their creativity and desire to be on the server by building something nice in the sandbox, and have a mod come over and check it, who then can promote the people to builder if the thing that they build is nice, i.e. a house or pixel art, or something that took some time and shows that they aren’t a griefer. Sure, some greifers will build and then grief, but it creates a testing area that will weed out most of them, as it will require some effort to be allowed to build in the wild. The Sandbox will be periodically edited back to its original shape, erasing all the building inside, and allowing new people to build. Pros: -Cuts Down on Griefers! Who Doesn’t love that Cons: -More work for mods (meh, this might be a problem, but there never is that much time where there are a lot of new people joining the server) Please leave your thoughts and ideas, I am open to suggestions to improving this idea!
If you wanted to do this, i think the better idea would be to have another world... 50x50 with 5-10 people who join the server at some point, that smells trouble.... Like people said with a resource world, its can be whored for resources, and if new people build there, when they have built something nice or creative, they can accepted onto the ecoworld rather then the resource world.
Yeah!, and it would give a feel of the "Wild West" as there would be greifers, and maybe pvp. The world would be recycled weekly, and it would benefit both new and old members.
