The Nation of Richland is preparing to open up the cities of Bountiful and Beautiful. To celebrate we are holding a House Building Competition Each contestant will have a 10 x 10 plot on which to build the best house they can with their own materials. Cobblestone is not recommended as none of the judges like it at all. The contest will begin at 7pm central US time on Saturday 26th of January. Three (3) hours is all you have to finish your project. First Place $5000 If more than 6 people enter there will be a Second Place award of $2500. If more than 8 people enter the First Place award will be raised to $7000 and a Third Place award of $1000 added in! Each contestant will be added to the town for 3 hours. A random bit of building supplies will be placed in a public chest nearby occasionally during the contest. Judges will include Rheasmom and Cat4461176 plus an additional outside judge to be announced later. Directions to the contest: Enter the Town Spawn Bountiful Portal on the redline, Floor 15. Arriving in Bountiful you will see the town to town portal that leads to Beautiful. The building plots are ready to go and laid out in Beautiful. You may also arrive through the /warp Bountiful command and proceed to Beautiful through the town to town portal. Rules#1) No griefing, no harrassing, no anti-s0cial behavior #2) Stay within the confines of your own plot and do not build outside of your area. #3) You may build down 12 spaces and/or up 20 spaces maximum. #4) Judges decision is final but each judge reserves the right to award an Honorable Mention prize of $500 to any house builder they particularly favor that did not place. #5) The rules are subject to change only if enough people complain about them or I am inspired with some other clever idea or terrifying thought. If you wish to enter, please post in this thread so we can have some idea of how many people will be entering ahead of time. Additional plots can be prepared in the unlikely event a zillion people apply to compete. Well, it certainly wouldnt hurt, but the most important thing is the house's over all appearance. The basis for judging will be the appearance and actual usability of the house - a place someone would want to live. Glad to hear you are excited! If you have time, come to Bountiful ahead of time. There is a Home Decor Display store going up.. almost finished, that shows several types of home furnishings that might interest you. The shop is on the second floor of shops, above the Alchemy Shop.
New Rules added! (I warned you I might 12 plots have been created for this competition. This leads me to add these new rules: Rule #6) You must arrive at the competition 10 minutes ahead of time. There are only 12 plots available. If you have signed up and failed to show up on time, your plot may be given to another contestant who had no reserved place. Rule #7) To reserve your building plot, please post in this thread. I will check regularly and as people apply I will put your name on your very own building plot and then post that you are officially entered in the competition. Bonestriker has been officially entered and has a plot assigned.
This will never work because a lot of people like me live in totally different time-zones I would like to enter but when this competition starts I am sleeping because it is night time for me. I think you might concider to change the building time to 7pm central US time on Saturday 26th of January and finish 7pm central US time on Sunday 27th of Januari. So a total of 24 hours.
Can you change the time? Im on pacific time and you should change it to around 10 EST. But yes, I will enter. Ill just have less time.
Well, I confess I was intrigued by the thought (mean) of making you all sweat by severely limiting the time. But ReDnAx1991 has a very valid point. Reluctantly I have to agree. It is more fair to allow 24 hours that way everyone can have a chance to compete. Therefore RULE CHANGE!!! The contest will be extend to 24 hours from 7pm Central US on Saturday to 7pm Central US on Sunday evening. Good Luck to you all!
