Minecraft Name: Strongpelt Suggestion: Make it so chestshops cannot be made on islands. Reason: Well, I know we have the shops auctioning every month (or 4 weeks?) to prevent shop squatting which was a problem on main. However another problem on main that helped kill markets was towns having the ability to just be made into shops. I propose we squash this issue on skyblock since we did something about the squatting. After all, Why would I want a shop spot that I have to win in an auction every month when I could just make a shop on my island? Maybe limits would be a problem, still though im not paying every month for a shop. Also I guess yes shops have easier warps however with trade ads its not hard to follow the directions to warp to an island to use those shops. Keep skyblocks shop market safe. Prevent the creation of chest shops on islands. Any Other Information: nope Link To This Plugin/Is this a custom addition?: Nope. Not sure how coding works either.
I strongly disagree, if you limit the player market to be handled by 8 sole owners, then they can do whatever the heck they want with the prices, I believe that the whole playerbase should be able to decide how to price things, rather than 8 rich people on the main server.
+1 to this. By having a spawn shop you are purchasing a shop at /spawn and /warp market, not the right to be one of 8 people that can only sell items. If you want only spawn shops then lower the prices and make more shops. Limiting it to spawn shops will do nothing but hurt the economy and give 8 people a monopoly. We have teams with 8 people on them.... what if each member of a team bought a shop... now a team controls all items being sold for a month? lol. More like nerf teams / teamblock.
Things don't sell, prices get lowered. Players have more control than they think. Also once server shop is up there will be a shop ceiling. Also, shops are always trying to undercut eachother so I highly doubt all 8 shop owners wouldn't have competition. I think you might want to make a suggestion about this. This Is probably the one thing that I guess could happen. but that's a lot of cash too.
The market is a centralized area at spawn. You are still paying for that luxury. I don't really have an opinion with this suggestion, I won't riot either way, but you still benefit from the purchase, and not-so-rich players benefit by being able to make their own little shops.
I understand what your concerns are I think seeing how main market shops have struggled. I do worry that if this is to become the rule on Skyblock, there will be no player to player market whatsoever. The eight most powerful and rich players will completely control all market activity, especially if there is no server shop. Or it could be like it is currently, where only a couple of shops actually carry much and the rest are ghost towns (I realize it is early, but every shop owner should at least be obligated to sell and buy at least a few things imho). Maybe skyblock is not meant to balanced like Main, but it is rather disappointing to find out there is a rumor that one player has the only silk pick and every single mob spawnner that is available. Not everybody has a huge team, or is able to spend 10-15 hours per day grinding. I personally am just having fun creating my island and not really in competition with every advantaged team, but hope that it does become more fair in the future. It is the rewards that are offered that entice the competition, especially when it comes to those offered to benefit the main server.
Thank you for that confirmation of a rumor - there are times that trolls should be punished much more since they can cause so much grief, especially for "anjam"
It still means that only the richest players are able to control the market completely. At least the market shop on Main allows almost anyone a chance to buy and sell items. They may still fail b/c of inexperience, but they at least have an opportunity. It will be interesting to see what happens when the new auction occurs
I could agree with this concept if we would have only 2 shops available now with a minimum bid of $500K to encourage actual selling and buying of much needed items (or at least until server shop opens).
Reasons to remove Island Shops One of the reasons to have spawnshop's only would be to limit it. Based on a min. bid of 50k/month it would cost 600k+ a year to rent a shop. Currently, you can make an island shop and spend some effort to make it known. If you reach that point it has close to the same value as a spawnshop without the rent. Example of this would be colebex (Imabankthing) on main previously. An Island has "unlimited" space and is free, compared to an expensive spawnshop with limited space. Reasons to Keep Island Shops Reasons that go against something like this would firstly be a monopoly. If only 8 users have access to the market it would limit the shop market. I am not afraid of one team controlling all shops, however, since players would be bidding on them to prevent this. Even if they wanted all 8 it would probably come close to 1m/month. My opinion Personally, I would like to see min. bid lowered to 25k and adding more spawnshops. Secondly to limit Island shops to 10 signs per Island. This would make the spawnshops worth the price hopefully, and still people can make island shops.
only issue with limiting signs is im not sure if they can limit that one kind of sign. we cant limit all signs to just 10 as signs are used to control water and other things in skyblock.
Anyone can get a silk pic... also.. I have multiple blaze spawners myself. Wasn’t too difficult. -1 to the suggestions..From what I have read the more shops the more regulated the Skyblock economy is. By limiting it to such a small number you allow for the potential of a controlled market, which would ruin the experience and drive players away. We want as many players involved in the economy as we can get. I would be surprised if this was accepted, but if it was I would suggest increasing spawn shops to a much higher number to keep prices competitive.
