This is already in the discussion/development stage if I'm not mistaken. Hence the "Future Plans" portals at spawn.
No, this is not a hub server. This will just make this server turn into a huge hub server. It makes it so that the economy feature is the worst off. Not too many people will be on the actual ECC server. They will be playing skyblock. If we do skyblock, then why not just put in a creative mode server? While we are at it we could also install a huge minigame server *sarcasm*. Unless there is a way to integrate skyblock into the economy, then I'm all ears. Otherwise please just go download the map and play it in singleplayer. This is not meant to be offensive, I just put great emotion into my decisions!
Trust me, Andrew has already thought all that through. He's been handling this wonderful economy for 3 years, so I'd assume he has a few tricks up his sleeve to make this fit right in. He wouldn't add something that would ruin the economy. Also, I feel widening the player range a bit (I used to have the top island on a Skyblock server before joining ECC) would be good for the server. I have a lot of friends who wish they could do more redstone stuff (I am also one of these people) and it would be nice to have a place that's a part of ECC, where normal block rules are different (pistons, hoppers, etc), but don't carry over to ECC (a.k.a auto cactus, melon, and pumpkin farms for skyblock), other than the money earned while there.
Well, skyblock generally has it's own ranks and achievements and/or challenges. Every time you complete a challenge, you're rewarded x amount of EcoDollars, payouts getting higher as the challenges get harder, as well as something for island level (for instance: Island Level at the end of the week x $500 or something). One of my friends is the host of a skyblock server, so I can possibly talk to him for some tips.
Hmm... could you transfer items off the skyblock? This might be a good idea. Items can't go into but they can go out. You could also still use the /sell command. Also if this were to happen, then you would NEED to have the same ecodollar balance in the skyblock area and ECC area. Two different balances would be a bit weird and we would basically have two separate servers.
How about this: On skyblock you can farm items and /sell them for a significantly higher price and can get more grass/dirt by trading 6 nstars for a block. In skyblock you would also have a seperate inventory (obviously).
Yes. I think that Andrew and the Devs can think of a way to make skyblock fit into ECC. Also, I would be suprised if this didn't make a lot more donations come in.
The only issue I would se with carrying items out is: skyblock you can make iron golem farms (lots of iron), auto melon/cactus/pumpkin farms (again lots of money), gold ingot farms using nether portals (again, lots of money), and the lot goes on, which would ruin the already stable economy on ECC. If it were to be real and fun skyblock, we would need the possibility of automation using redstone. Saying that, I don't think there should be a /sell command on the skyblock portion of the server. All donations should be disabled there (unless you buy a new "skyblock fly" donation [what fun would it be if you could place water, place lava, fly, use /kit mobs, etc right off the bat?]). Some of my thoughts may be a little biased because of the time I spent playing skyblock (which I will note was well over a year and a half). Also, McMMO should be separate here, with no "buying levels/bonus exp." I think it should just be flat out, plain use your head and time to have the best island, with Fly being the only donation, within reason of certain blocks and such to give a small advantage, traditional skyblock with the economy tied in.
This could also prompt a certain transaction. You will get some people who enjoy skyblock more than the Economy server. Then you also have people who like the Economy server better. You can then trade nstars in the Economy servers for grass blocks/dirt/minerals/etc in skyblock. This offers a whole new range of trade!
I'll look at both perspectives: This can be somewhat attached to the economy stated by dragon or the not as attached to the economy stated by maco. On one side donations may flow in heavily especially if it's made so you can't make water and lava place able without pyro and WP. Whereas if it's less attached then I think people would just flow in from other servers just to play that. I suggest something more like skywars where you bring your own gear but you can't bring anything but armor
I like all the suggestions here, just wanted to try an idea... What if was like the nether and the aether? Pay in game money to access the world. That would give people the incentive to make their way in the economy side of the server, then sit back and play some sky block. I however feel there should be no money, donation features, or transferring of items to and from the sky block section. That to me would ruin it all together. The point of sky block is to do the best you can with tight restrictions. Sent from my NX008HD8G using Tapatalk
I forgot to add... Payed access would also remove money from the economy, in turn fighting back inflation. Sent from my NX008HD8G using Tapatalk
