Accepted [SG Server Suggestion] Removal of Tridents/Grenadier Kit Change

    Removal of Tridents/Grenadier Kit Change
    What are you suggesting:
    The removal of tridents from the Grenadier kit and SG entirely.
    Why is this a good addition for EcoCityCraft?:
    Currently through the grenadier kit you can obtain tridents. The idea is that you can consistently throw tridents at people to give that same effect that the grenadier kit had before. However, when tridents were introduced to Minecraft they were balanced around the *attack speed* mechanic in 1.9 PvP and do a total of 4.5 hearts of damage per MELEE attack (as tridents can both be thrown AND melee attack). Thus with the removal of the *attack speed* mechanic from 1.9 PvP and reverting it to 1.8 PvP, a trident is dealing 4.5 hearts of damage per swing while a diamond sword is dealing 3.5 hearts of damage per swing.

    With this setup in place, this means that the strongest weapon possible to obtain is only available from the Grenadier Kit and can potentially cause problems in SG balance. Removing the tridents would restore the said PvP balance that existed in basic 1.8 PvP standards.

    There is of course the idea of including tridents in SG chests, but this would not be based around 1.8 PvP balancing and would make combat more bursty in nature and not so much a sustained battle as it is intended to be through 1.8 PvP balancing.

    Yeah, if it's 1.8 PVP, tridents shouldn't be in there.

    +1 Getting 4 tridents which deal more damage than a diamond sword on hit, being able to give 3 away to teammates is too op.

    Also not having splash potions in grenadier pretty much makes the milk buckets in scavenger useless.

    I failed to 2v1 a player with a trident even though I had make it quick and buffer active at the time.

    If tridents are overpowered! then so is buffer. Buffer makes any decent sword Better Than basically anything and then throw regen on it. Buffer is the real sinner if any imo. But Thats not my point rly.

    Couldnt the dmg of the trident be regulated to match what ? A stone sword perhaps ? As it has more uses Than an iron sword but still a kit with no dmg buff.

    I bought the kit for the tridents not for the melee dmg as i didnt Even Know the dmg at the time. Pretty sure i hadnt played a game by then at all. I just Think they are a fun tool to throw at ppl..

    Just Think it would be sad to lose a Weapon instead of balancing the dmg to Where it would make sense. Is all. For the shield.. replace with tnt or sumtin but Thats not for here really either.

    The idea of comparing the implementation of tridents to buffer is misguided for many reasons. The first of these is that the damage output of tridents is permanent whereas the damage output of buffer is temporary. I understand where you are coming from in this, but that would have to pertain to a different suggestion entirely. The focus I'm on is the balancing of basic 1.8 PvP combat which strength potions are calculated into this matter, but I have another suggestion for that as well later.

    If the trident damage could be modified to be equal to that of an iron sword then I would be satisfied. However, I do not believe that is physically possible in minecraft.

    Whereas your intention for buying the kit may not have been to reap the overpowered melee attacks, it still does not justify the existence of said overpowered damage output.

    I have no knowledge on what can be modified of the tools stats. But Yea. Would se lowering the dmg as a Better sollution if it can be done without doing any developer hours on it.

    Would Think it Odd not being able to modidy dmg. but that is based on Nothing but inituition and no technical skill. So yea heh.

    it should be possible to change the damage values of tridents. Since attack damage is a modifiable attribute for every single item in Minecraft. (you can make a brick be 10 damage if you want)

    It should be possible with the kit in Essentials (but you'd need the raw json code). But I'm unsure if it'll actually work properly.
