    So after listening to feedback about the SG medal change, we have decided to hold a competition to design 3 new medals. This is based on the ugliness of the wood sword and the devaluing of previous achievements.

    The plan is to revert the medals back to how they used to be, so:
    75,000 = Iron
    150,000 = Gold
    300,000 = Diamond
    600,000 = New Medal #1
    1,200,000 = New Medal #2
    x,xxx,xxx = New Medal #3 (possibly in the future)
    ​
    One idea could be what Nicit posted:
    Requirements:
    • Picture must be square
    • Background must be transparent
    • Must be appropriate for SG medals
    • We need 3 medals.

    We will start judging entries this weekend (Saturday 21st onwards). They can be posted in this thread and I will edit them into the 2nd post here so people can give feedback/opinions :)

    There will be a prize for the winner :)

    Any questions, ask away. I've probably forgotten lots of significant information!

    First question: WHat is the pixel size requirement? I am medium at small designs (Only a few pixels), but horrible at big ones. :D

    As far as I can tell, you can upload a picture any size.. so I guess that that is up to your judgment! The forum auto generates a 35 x 35 image when you upload it.

    Second question: Does the sword design have to fit the current sword form, or can the form be different to emphasize the special-ness of the highest 3 medal tiers?

    That's also how I originally found out about how it expands the picture to 35x35 after uploading, yet saves however the picture originally was. Always found that a little strange. You can technically do that, but I still recommend 35x35 ;)

    I'm not very good at this type of thing but I do have an idea I kind of like if anyone else wants to make it. I was thinking of having the iron, gold, and diamond swords laying on top of each other from left to right and at the bottom have a banner that says something along the lines of "600k", "1.2m" or "3m"

    Well, that's if these weird numbers are kept. @Dewsy92, are these numbers 100% set? If not I'd like to suggest this:
    New Medal #1: 500k or... 1m
    New Medal #2 1 million or... 2m
    New Medal #3 2 million or... 3m

    600k is just doesn't seem like as much of an achievement. You don't see people celebrating 600, 1200, etc. ratings. You see them celebrating numbers similar to above.

    At the moment there is no intention to change the numbers. If we changed the numbers for the new medals but not the original 3 then they wouldn't match together and I think would look weird. If we also changed the original 3 then we risk causing a similar issue to the wood/stone medals. If people worked hard towards getting 75k for the iron sword, and then we dropped it to 50k people would feel like their achievement has been devalued. Similarly, we can't start removing medals and increasing the requirement! The 75/150/300/600/1.2 may not be the ideal position if you're starting from scratch, but at the point we are at now, I think it is the best option that keeps consistency between the medals.

    That is a different matter though, for the purposes of this competition. The points are here to stay.

    When you upload the picture, the forum creates 4 variations of it. The largest being 35 x 35 - No idea the smallest, haven't looked! But the bottom line is that you can upload any size and the forum does the hard work :p
