Minecraft Name: Kirito32 Suggestion: My suggestion is to add mushrooms or some other ingredient that can be used in a crafting recipe with a bowl to be found in chests found around the sg maps. Reason: The reason this should be added is because as of now you can find empty bowls in chests, and they are pretty much useless and take up a spot in your inventory. Also, sometimes players find themselves with little to no food for when deathmatch starts, and I think an extra method to get food via crafting wouldn't be a bad thing. I am suggesting to add the mushroom varieties to the chest, as players would then be able to craft mushroom soup should they be in desperate need of food. I do not believe this will make getting food too easy as using the crafting table at spawn is risky anyway and other crafting tables around the map usually are hard to find or out of the way, but would be useful for players who are in quite a bind. Any Other Information: While I mainly suggest mushrooms, I also think a decision for a different bowl ingredient would be possible and interesting as well, such as beetroot soup or rabbit stew. A big reason why useless items are in chests to balance out the randomizer thingy so that there's not too many weapons/good things that spawn. When you take the time to gather both kinds of mushrooms and get bowls, you'd probably find food in chests.
Well adding mushrooms wouldn't mean there's more good stuff at spawn would it? Actually if its only one or two ingredients I figured it would be fine, and only slightly decrease chance of good spawn stuff.
When pork chops were added /worth broke. Adding 2 mushrooms to the loot table would probably cause the server to explode..
I can't imagine why adding stuff to the loot table would cause errors like that. It shouldn't, but if it does then maybe it would be better to just leave it alone I guess. I wasn't really aware of any technical implications of adding them so if it can't be done then I guess that's that.
That wasn't my argument, I said that because you were complaining that they are 'useless and they take up a spot in your inventory' so I explained why useless items exist.
@ThatKidArshi actually now that I think about it, it wouldn't be that difficult since it can be inventory crafted without the need of a crafting table. @ZevZero I understand now what you mean, I misunderstood. My whole reason for adding mushrooms though wasn't on the basis of it being a good idea because the bowls are useless, I said that because I wanted to emphasize it would be neat to give them a use.
Based on that logic, though: Why not replace bowls with mushroom soup? The item spawn chances wouldn't need to be lowered for anything because the amount of items the plugin assigns percentages to remains the same.
There is mushroom soup that can be found but theres also empty bowls that can be found in the chest. I would suggest removing empty bowls all together, but some people would think that would mess with item balance or something, which is why I suggested a way to make more soup if the ingredients are found. Another idea I thought of just now was that you could remove empty bowls but add the percentage chance of finding empty bowls to the percentage chance of mushroom soup so its slightly more common. This would cancel out any effects of balance that would be caused by removing empty bowls. Just a thought though. Its just something about items that don't serve a purpose that sort of just bother me. It's like an insatiable itch that won't go away. Most of the other items in sg have a purpose, even gold ingots and string. I've used gold ingots to craft a gold sword when I literally had no other weapon, and it helped a bit (also you can swing gold swords pretty fast). Also string for bows etc., it's just an ocd thing I guess, it would be nice if you could actually use the bowls for something other than just tossing them in lava when you get the chance.
or you could just leave it be and not put empty bowls in your inventory you're one of the only people I know who would craft a gold sword during a game, you would have to have to be incredibly unlucky to not find any other weapons in that time
Pretty sure that you can already find mushrooms scattered around the map and not in chests, you just have to know the right place to look.
Which map? I've never found any so it would be interesting to see if this true @Drewbo_ Also, if there not in chests, then are they just on the ground breakable?
sg3 is one of the maps, I can find them, you can break mushrooms if you find them on the floor just like you can break leaves or vines.
The Survival Games maps may get changed soon, so maybe some of those maps will have the mushrooms that you could use to create mushroom stew. Anyways, what Drew said is true, the mushrooms are in the sewer tunnels on SG3, so just look around in them and you'll find them. Other than that, I can see this suggestion being useful... so I'll give it a +1.
Being honest, mushroom soup crafting in SG went out of style when the drop from 8 maps to 4 happened and /kit vsg went by the wayside...I remember SG 1, SG 7, and SG 8 being notorious for having dozens of mushrooms scattered about the map. That being said, even though I don't play much @314's idea seems the most logical; changing bowl spawns to mushroom soup.
Since mushroom soup apparently already exists in SG chests my original post doesn't work anymore. As far as I know that is not easily possible. If I understand it correctly, SG item generation is based on tiers, with all items in one tier being equally likely to spawn. Increasing the stack size might be possible, though.
