Ok, so in the last ten minutes during the server downtime we have updated our SG plugin. There is one big change which will change how SG will be played in the future. Normally in minecraft when you take damage, the damage you take is reduced based on the armor you are wearing, that means if you are getting hit for 14 damage, but wearing a few bits of armor, it might only do 8 damage to your health. This was true for the first hit or two in SG, but not on killing blows. SG used to detect killing blows without calculating armour. That means if you were wearing armor, and getting hit for 14, the first attack might take only 8 hearts, but the second one would kill you. From now on, armour damage is included in the killing blow, so this means your favourite combos might take an extra hit to successfully down a player depending on the armour they are wearing. That means for example, if you have a 14 damage sword/pot combo, instead of hitting 8/14 nd causing a KO, it will now hit 8/8/4
Confirmed again, using Miq and buffer together is no longer a 1 shot kill unless the user is in less than 1/2 armor bars. Anything higher than 1/2 armor is 2 or more hits.
I think it's ok but one question I have is buffer + Miq still instant kill and with these new changes when you go to kill someone with buffer and Miq will it says (name) was killed by an unknown item or can you go straight into combat with it registering on the first hit without having to do a wasteful hit with your fist?
Honestly, I'm not sure what you are trying to say here, try again after taking a breath and spend some time on your grammar. If you are asking if miq+buffer is a 1 hit kill, it will be but only if the other player is not wearing armour.
Sorry, I'm on an iPhone and it's really hard to type fast and get my thoughts out clearly. Before when you went to fight someone with Miq and buffer you would go up and hit them and they would instantly die. When they died it didn't credit you with the money for the kill and it would say (Player) hit the ground to hard or something like that. To get it to register under your name and credit you with the kill you would have to waste a hit with your fist or something besides a weapon. With the armor thing being fixed, when you fight someone with miq and buffer will it register under your name after the first hit when they have no armor? I see that when they do have armor it takes more than one hit which is what the old problem was.
So far, all of my buffer kills have registered. I'm not sure about when they're not wearing armor though.
Well, you know from in the past how everything with buffer was one hit instant kill? And how it didn't register to you as a kill unless you wasted a hit on them. I'm wondering of that is stil the case against people with no armor at all like people wth spy, will it still register as your kill?
The change is not designed to effect the 'who killed who' dynamic of the game, this is purely to address the fact the combo was hitting through the armour as if it wasn't there, since I was checking player health before calculating the armour damage reduction. It might effect the whole 'who killed who' dynamic, but if it does, its a fluke.
How are people feeling about this update? We could probably slightly buff MIQ to sharpness 3, to make sure its a 2hit kill every time, because full iron atm would make buff+miq a 3 hit kill.
That still would be too OP for a fair fight. I think what its at right now gives people without miq and buffer at least a fair(ish) chance.
