Hiya, Just want to vent a little frustration that seems to be ongoing. Random, no-notice server restarts!!! Obviously, there are issues and things that need to happen with the server which I understand fully. But the lack of information about firstly the restart happening (especially for those flying) and then the down time or the reason why for the restart. I am not saying the ones that happen every couple of hours to clear cache etc, that we get the 10min warning for, but the longer ones that just randomly happen for what seems (due to lack of information) to be no reason that we as members know of. To me, keeping members informed about what is happening would save frustration and what not that sometimes gets vented across in the chat box etc and the people logging on and finding the server down with no info as to why. Just a suggestion, flame me if you wish, but wanted to generate a little discussion good or bad.
A very important update was needed to be put in place immediately and needed to be tested. The reason it was not placed in chat was because the nature of the reason for the update. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Hiya Netsui, It's not that it's an inconvenience as much as the lack of warning or info that goes along with the updates. Don't get me wrong, I understand fully the need for updates and maintenance etc that come along with running servers etc. And by no means am I singling out this instance, but this seems to be ongoing since I joined the server that the needed restarts for what ever reasons are not broadcasted to the community. "Maintenance ongoing, Start time 9:37pm EST, estimated completion, 10min" As I said, just a thought to help keep the community informed.
I understand the server may have to do "emergency" restarts/downtime but a broadcast or server message announcement by who ever is restarting/stoping the server would be nice. even 30, 20, 10 seconds or 20, 10 seconds warnings before the restart/stop would be nice.
If an ETA cannot be provided on a maintenance event, it would be nice to be provided a warning that give the impression of more than just a restart. For example: "Server restarting to fix/address an exploit" would lead people to believe that the server is probably not going to come back in 30 seconds.
