ECC Pumpkin Farming Guide -by @RyanBlocks2 Intro: This guide mainly covers the types of farming that can be done based on the features/potions you have available to you. It also covers what is (in my opinion) the best and most profitable way to farm pumpkins. To organize this guide I have broken it into 6 distinct farming groups each of which has options to different features/potions. Terminology Used: Calculated Value - The calculated value is how much pumpkins make per hour - the cost of any non feature necessities such as potions. This is the value that will be at the top of every section. Tested Value - The tested value is how much the pumpkins make per hour without any subtractions or additions. This is the raw tested value I got from my tests. Estimated Value - An estimated value is a value that has not been tested but that is estimated from previous data. These values are not 100% accurate but are very close. Pumpkin Axe - An Axe with the enchantments of Efficiency Five and Unbreaking Three. They can be purchased for around 6-8k or made at the EXP shop. Breaks pumpkins the fastest out of any tool in the game. Macro Mod - A commonly used mod in minecraft and general in ECC. Allows for keybindings and scripts to make gameplay easier. Tier 1 - God Level Pumpkin Farming - $14,430/hr Requirements: - Fly, Extracommands+, Feed, Macro Mod, 200x200x? Farm, Max Axe Tested Value: - $14,430/hr Description: - Using a variety of expensive features, Tier 1 pumpkin farming makes a solid $14k+ amount per hour which may be surprising to some. However, for a feature cost of $185 USD or a bit over 1 milECD at 5.5k/USD it comes at a very steep price tag. Instructions: Spoiler Step One: Using macro mod, create two key bindings. The first key should run the commands /sell pumpkin and /repair all when pressed. The second key should run the command /feed. Step Two: Set your speed to somewhere between 4 and 5. I recommend 4.25. Step Three: Looking at the double rows of pumpkins put your cursor in the middle. Then, run forward alternating pressing the "A" and "D" keys. while holding down the "W" key. At this speed your cursor should be placed far enough from you so that both rows are breaking as you run (you are alternating back and forth between rows). Step Four: While farming use your bound keys to sell pumpkins, repair your tool, and fill your hunger. Authors Note: - While this method of farming is the most profitable you can remove a couple features and get close. Removing Erepairs gives you and estimated value of ~$13,430. Removing feed gives you an estimated value of ~14,030 Tier 2 - Fly Pumpkin Farming - $13,030 Requirements: - Fly, Macro Mod, 200x200x? Farm, Max Axe Tested Value: - $13,030/hr Description: - This method of pumpkin farming uses only the fly donation feature to increase profit. Note that more food and a bigger farm is needed for this method as you break pumpkins faster. Instructions: Spoiler Step One: Using macro mod, create a key binding. Set it to /sell pumpkin Spoiler Step Two: Set your speed to somewhere between 4 and 5. Step Four: While farming use your bound keys to sell pumpkins. Stop to eat and get ereps when necessary. Authors Note: - Just the fly donation feature increases your pumpkin farm profits by around 2.7k/hr making it a great buy for pumpkin farmers. Tier 3 - Extended Speed Pumpkin Farming - $11,917 Requirements: - Extended Speed Potions, Macro Mod, 200x200x? Farm, Max Axe Tested Value: - $12,017/hr Description: - This method of pumpkin farming uses no donation features and instead uses extended speed potions to increase profits. This is easily the best alternative for pumpkin farmers with no features. Instructions: Spoiler Step One: Using macro mod, create a key binding. Set it to /sell pumpkin Step Two: Drink a extended speed potion. Step Four: While farming use your bound keys to sell pumpkins. Stop to eat, get ereps, and drink potions Authors Note: - While I wasn't surprised to see extended speed pots make more than speed II pots in the calculated value I was very surprised to see that the Tested Value for extended speed pots is actually higher than that of speed II. Turns out that the extra food consumed ereps needed, and time drinking potions by speed II pots simply aren't worth the extra speed. Tier 4 - Speed II Pumpkin Farming - $11,566 Requirements: - Speed II Potions, Macro Mod, 200x200x? Farm, Max Axe Tested Value: - $11,996/hr Description: - A worse alternative that extended speed pots, speed II pot farming offers another option if no extended speed pots can be found in the market. Also great for Sanic lovers who just wanna go fast. Instructions: Spoiler Step One: Using macro mod, create a key binding. Set it to /sell pumpkin Step Two: Drink a Speed II potion. Step Four: While farming use your bound keys to sell pumpkins. Stop to eat, get ereps, and drink potions Authors Note: So yeah speed II pots make less/hr than extended speed pots. I wish I had investigated this earlier as I bought half my features farming with speed II pots. Oh well, DONT USE THESE but extended swiftness pots!. Tier 5 - E repair Pumpkin Farming - $11,076 Requirements: - Extracommands+, Macro Mod, 200x200x? Farm, Max Axe Tested Value: - $11,076/hr Description: - Erepair farming is farming for those who only have the Erepair feature. It provides a small buff over normal farming (about a grand). Instructions: Spoiler Step One: Using macro mod, create a key binding. Set it to /sell pumpkin and /repair all Step Three: Looking at the double rows of pumpkins put your cursor in the middle. Then, run forward alternating pressing the "A" and "D" keys. while holding down the "W" key. At this speed your cursor should be placed far enough from you so that both rows are breaking as you run (you are alternating back and forth between rows). Step Four: While farming use your bound keys to sell pumpkins and repair tools. Stop to eat. Authors Note: I was pretty surprised by how small the gain/hr was by getting e repairs. $1k for a $100 USD feature is not a ton. Tier 6 - Normal Pumpkin Farming - $10,383 Requirements: - Macro Mod, 200x200x? Farm, Max Axe Tested Value: - $10,383/hr Description: - The most basic type of pumpkin farming, with the low price of pumpkin axes this is available to builders shortly after they join the server. It makes a decent amount of money, way more than I thought when I began testing. Instructions: Spoiler Step One: Using macro mod, create a key binding. Set it to /sell pumpkin Step Three: Looking at the double rows of pumpkins put your cursor in the middle. Then, run forward alternating pressing the "A" and "D" keys. while holding down the "W" key. At this speed your cursor should be placed far enough from you so that both rows are breaking as you run (you are alternating back and forth between rows). Step Four: While farming use your bound keys to sell pumpkins. Stop to eat and get erepairs, Authors Note: None. Possible Sources of Bias in these Values So, as this data required a very long time to test, I find it necessary to also include possible sources of bias that may be present in the data. I of course, tried to keep bias to a minimum while testing. Erepair cost was not included in tested or calculated values: - As most people give free erpairs the cost of erepairs was not included in these values. Should a player be charged for erepairs it will effect the earnings by decreasin profit per hour by a few hundred ecd varying depending on what speed enhancement method the farmer is using. Time taken to buy pots was not included & all pots are valued at $10. - The time taken to collect pots was not taken into account. However, the impact of this on profit/hr should be very small. Also, all pots are valued at $10, which could sway the price/hr either way depending on actual sale price of pots. Again another very small bias, basically negligable. Feature Profit Per Hour This section basically takes a look at what features make the most money per hour per USD spent on them. Basically return on feature investment in respects to pumpkin farming. Fly - We see an increase of $2647/hr for the purchase of the fly feature. At $60 fly thus makes us a profit of $44/hr per USD spent. Extracommands+ - We see an increase of $693/hr for the purchase of the extracommands+ feature. Because valuing all ereps as free heavily biases this one statistic (see above section), I have added $300 to its price ($993) increase in an attempt to lower the bias. At $100 extracomands+ this makes us a profit of $10/hr per USD spent. Feed - We see an increase of around $400/hr for the purchase of the feed feature. At $25 this makes us a profit of $16/hr per USD spent. The above statistics are just for fun and are heavily influenced by cost charged by players for e repairs as well as many other biases I wont list here. None the less, it shows that feed likely does have a considerable impact on pumpkin farming profits considering its relatively low cost to extracommands+. At 1/4 of the price and disregarding money if you spend 1/4 of the time eating as you do getting ereps it is worth the same as the ereps feature per USD spent. Again there are a lot of what ifs but hey, food for thought. One thing that is certain from the above is that fly increases your profit both overall and by USD and is defiantly the donation you should go for if you are looking to make more pumpkin farming. Conclusion So that just about wraps up my guide/info. If anyone has any thoughts, comments or concerns please let me know. Thanks, RyanBlocks2.
The feature profit per hour section really helped me make my decision on which feature I'm getting next (fly and then feed). This was seriously a great thread/post and truly one of the most informative/easy to understand I've ever read.
First of all, I love this tutorial! Thanks for the long hours of research put into it. May I suggest just one thing? Builders and some uninformed mayors (umm, not me of course) might not know what a pumkin axe or a max axe is, exactly. Maybe you can include the enchantments one needs to make a pump axe? Or is that on a different tutorial somewhere?
The pumpkin farming macro is a simple keybind to a command. It isn't code. You simply open macro mod click the key and type the command you wish it to run. I may add this to the guide thanks. You press them fast.
Spelling? Lol anyway man this is a great tutorial and go's way more in-debth than I thought you good. Job well done
