Ok, so I've been noticing MULTIPLE times that banned players talk a TON in shoutbox. Mostly, of course, about their ban. But there's also a rule not to talk about banned players. I asked KMaxwell about this a while back, but she said "Don't talk about banned players. Period." This didn't really clarify what I was asking, in fact I only left more confused. I think these rules are a bit conflicting towards each other. If we can't talk about banned players, but they get to talk in shoutbox, are we simply not supposed to respond to them? sick24, pbrassat17 (Just because I saw your names online)
Feel free to talk to banned players about normal topics for they are part of this wonderful community and probably have some interesting information. What we mods are trying to avoid by people talking to banned players is talking about the ban they have received or any ban any player has received. We have noticed that it can lead to flaming and flame wars which doesn't do any good, so we avoid it as best as we can.
I agree, the rules are quite cloudy, and could use some clarification. Also, it has been suggested to ban banned players from shout. This is because the often post things like, "2 hours until I am unbanned " or "UNBAN ME!!!!", or things I can not post without being banned my self.
It is my understanding that banning banned players from the shout box would require all bans to be notified or passed along to andrew who would then have to ban that specific player from the shout box. Then, after they are allowed back on the server, that information would also have to passed along to andrew to unban them from the shout box which is just takes too much time for the already busy man. Not to mention the fact that there would be a several minute if not hours of delay between in game banning/unbanning and shout box banning/unbanning. TL;DR Too much work and the logistics don't make sense.
Not much we can do about this other than warn them to not specifically talk about their ban if they do this. No problem on the clarification; that is what we are here to do
