Minecraft Username: y0landi Brief Description: When your inventory is full and you destroy a sign, you lose the excess items Instructions: Make a trade sign with over 64 things in it, then fill up your inventory with anything else, then break the trade sign How many times did you recreate this bug?: many Result: deleted blocks Expected Result: sign to remain up with the items that could not fit in your inventory still in them Evidence: I know this was a bug in the past, but I thought it was fixed, this has caused me to lose small amounts here and there, each with a value of less than $5,000 so I didn't report it. But today I lost $150,000 which is why I am reporting it here... A loss of 150k when /sell is down is a HUGE loss and I would like to be compensated/refunded if at all possible. You may be wondering why I took screenshots of this as it happened, normally I take a video of everything, but my recording software wasnt working properly, so I took screenshots of things that may have issues like removing EXP trade storage signs or removing things of high value (i.e. this)
why would you test it on $150,000 worth of blocks if you knew that there was a risk of you loosing it and then ask for a refund? Doesn't make much sense to me
I wasn't testing it, I was just trying to get 64 sea lanterns, I didn't want all of them. I normally record all of my trade sign removals so that if something bizarre happens I can report it and it will have some credit because it's worth a lot
We reverted to the previous build, nothing was changed, and nothing was fixed. Compensation will not be possible. Also, as you seemed to quite literally be asking for this to happen, with all the blocked slots with diamond blocks. I won't be compensating you for any further issues that you may have unless they truly are server error, and not you going witch hunting for bugs.
I wasn't witch hunting for this bug, I just knew it was an issue in the past, so I have been screenshotting every single time I did anything with trade signs. If I was going to throw money away, I wouldn't be throwing away sea lanterns. This was not intentional and I am very distraught that this has happened!!
Jamie did say not to mess with trade signs or something until they are completely fix and all, at least I believe he did.
I had only filled my inventory with diamond blocks because I was going to sell 64 sea lanterns, and I did not want to replace the sign, with other things it allows you to take only what your inventory will allow, but I know there is an in-between with this bug. Too many blocks in the sign and it works properly, not enough and it deletes them. I did realize 373 was not enough It just had been a while and I thought that they had been fixed.
Well, just make sure your more careful with trade signs and all since you realize they haven't been fixed. And when they are fixed I would still be careful using them as I myself don't even use trade signs. I only did once and that was for the EXP Collector medal and I didn't have any problems.
fix it properly then, EssentialsX seems to be able to do it, albeit a bit hackishly, but it works, and you can literally copy their file. A method to do it even exists in spigot. the getStorageContents() method. But that requires a bit of testing and changing things up. There are 2 big problems on ECC right now. And BOTH relate to poor inventory handling. In fact, making inventoryWorkaround ignore offhand is literally the solution to both problems here. Why neither has been fixed yet is beyond me. Also... Really? compensation isn't possible? come on man, y0landi isn't all-knowing. Most people expect bugs to get fixed over time. And with that whole "we're fixed, but not. aaand reverted" situation things get confusing. You get people who think it's fixed losing their shit to a dumb-ass bug that should've been fixed months ago. But noooo, it's the user's fault for not being cautious enough. That's your responsibility, not y0landi's. When you push responsibility to the victims you get a toxic culture that pushes users away. And with ECC's declining playercount that's definitely not what you want.
I can agree in some way, but Jamie has been very busy lately focusing on many other things as well as his Irl life and when you have people bugging you every time they see you about something they want fixed which you have said will be fixed whenever it gets fixed a hundred times then the stress does begin to build up.
The reason for not compensating, is because they explicitly went out of their way to test it. Look at the inventory. I agree on the issue regarding the inventory, and I plan to talk to andrew regarding EX's fix. Changing to storageContents CAUSED the previous issue with trade signs, but I'll look into the EX fix.
So is this still a problem? Cause if so, is there any point having a large buy sign for items? Cause i wont be able to get them all out? Thanks
If you plan to get items out of a trade sign, either make sure you have room in your inventory or put an item in your offhand slot.
You didn't even look at her response. She did it that way to ensure she would only get a single stack of items from her tradesign. Because the way essentials should work is that it would only give you as much blocks as your inventory could hold and keep the rest in the sign.
Could @y0landi have been more careful? Sure. She knew there might have been a problem (that's why she screenshotted in the first place), so she could have just placed something in her offhand to avoid issues, but she didn't. Did she know that, putting something in the offhand, she would have been safe from the bug? Probably not at all: had she known, she probably would have done, seeing how she dutifully screenshotted everything. This what makes it a ridiculously stupid loss: nowhere I have seen an official statement such as "WHILE WE FIX THE BUG, PLACE SOMETHING IN YOUR DAMN OFFHAND IF YOU DON'T WANT TO EXPERIENCE THE BUG". And if there was, it hasn't been publicized enough. So, was this her fault? Hell no. Spoiler: NSFW You don't tell a rape victim that it was her fault, even if she was walking naked along the street in the middle of the night. This wasn't a rape and it's not Jamie's fault as well, but you get what I mean. Jamie, I know you have stuff to do, you may even decide not to compensate because it would make a precedent and open the door to countless requests; but don't say it was her fault, and please make a damn huge official statement everywhere in the server explaining how to temporarily avoid the consequences of this bug while it's not fixed yet (or ask Andrew, if needed to make it resound more).
Form what I understand, just have enough room in your inventory. But if I am reading this correctly, if you have something in your off-hand, and only a certain amount of space it should work.* *Disclaimer: I do not know if this works or not, and I don't want you to lose money because of this
