Remove diamonds from aether

No. Just no.

For starters... aether is $20,000.

Second... to even do it properly you need Fly, which costs $60 US Dollars.

 

Aether has finite diamonds.

Kuke, hoking, wolvie and I raided most of them already.

Also... no offense (really)... but this would sound a lot more credible if you actually had aether access, because it just sounds like someone whining over an unavailable opportunity...

Have to agree with iEvolive here. Diamonds cannot be sold to server, so there really is no inflation, the only real issue is that people can be sitting on stacks of diamonds and sell them to others, but seeing as it's not an easy task stopping them from getting into the void, and most are lost if you don't take the time to prevent it, it's not a huge benefit for someone who spent 20k for it. and also, yes, it's finite, meaning that before long, the diamonds will be gone.

 

at first I got 3-4 stacks of diamonds, Today that was 40 diamonds.
I was mining for 30 minutes.
I know of at least 6 people who do this and the diamonds are most likely almost completely gone within a week or two.

 

Try flying around the aether and finding diamonds, you would be surprised at how difficult it is.

 

I don't think Andrewkm or Khobbits can turn of the diamonds from the aether (I may be wrong)
So it's etheir no aether or this kind of stuff happening once in a while.

 

Wolvie was most likely exaggerating.
Reasons diamonds are difficult to find:

1, Most islands are ABOVE diamond level and most you will find is a diamond vein with only 1 diamond occasionally.
2, The islands are far apart.
3, Navigating in the aether is very very confusing. (especially when looking from below) you will find yourself going in circles a LOT.

 

I was talking about this with andrewkm, even worked out what commands would fix it...
There are a couple of (none?)-issues though:
* The aether should have some reward for mining, regardless, and since the islands aren't really deep enough, for proper mining, this makes up for it.
* Diamonds aren't server sellable
* The aether is rather small, unlike the normal map, the available area is quite limited
* The aether has increased risks/perks, since you always have the chance to fall to the death, and the limited available building material, it makes sense for there to be some perks to make up for that.

 

At least 50% of all islands in the aether are above diamond level.

At least 30% of diamonds fall into the void (generally).

Here is a list of all the things you must do to get diamonds from the aether (the right way).

• Obtain aether access ($20,000)
• Obtain Fly (EcoDollar value of $100,000+)
• Find some diamonds (time taken: 15 minutes (average))
• Mine them without having them fall into the void (losses to void: 30% (from my mining))

Total cost: $120,000+
Time taken: 15 minutes or more
Losses to void: 30% or more

And yeah, like kuke said, the aether is a confusing place.

Also... at the rate it's going they'll be all out by the end of the week.

 

I have fly and Aether access, and I would actually like diamonds to be much scarcer. Not gone, but far less. In the Aether.

Even if you cannot sell to the server and you likely pay real money for fly, anyone can control the economy. No one seems to be realizing this. -.- D0rc should even know, he fixed the [diamond] economy once, or at least set it back to a better state. Mass amounts of diamonds in SELECT FEW PEOPLES INVENTORIES gives them a lot more control than anyone can imagine.

I don't want a "corrupt" economy. I understand the benefit for the price it costs to get those diamonds easy, but I am looking at this in a different way. There are too many diamonds. :/

 

Mining diamonds in the aether is the same as mining in the normal world, sure its easier and faster but it runs out quicker too.
Whats the difference between a temp
orary diamond boost in the aether and the constant diamond mining in the normal world?
All those diamonds end up circulating in the economy anyway.

And this thread is sort of useless noow that most diamonds are gone already.
Within a week things will return to normal and people will mine normally again.

 

People seem to forget that the ore generation in the aether is different. I've found diamonds at level 40....

I don't have fly but also mine diamonds by using dirt. I've found diamonds near grass level in the Aether, and usually a vein of three or four, not just one. Also, using dirt can improve the void rating of diamonds dropping from 30% to 99%.
