With the map expansion there will be a bit of lag until most of the new chunks has been explored and the faster they get explored the better! To help reduce the lag try exploring the new parts of the map as much as possible especially the oceans!Wise words of andrewkm:
No new chunks are being loaded, that's why a new border was set and filled. This is why it took several hours to scan all the chunks.
