Since "Rankism" is a new problem I have just recently conceived, I will put a definition of the word here - Rankism: hatred or intolerance of another rank or other ranks - Now down to the point, I have been watching and evaluating the way of thought throughout ECC chat. One problem that has come to my notice is a way of thinking that higher ranked users have. One Large example of this could be something of this sort - http://imgur.com/Dqcgp - Just because they are new users to the server definitely does not make them "newbie" or in any way a lesser of the high ranks... How should anyone know, Maybe there is a builder that has played this server longer than most residents and just does not want to take the time to become a resident or take the time to keep a town intact... or in another case, Maybe there is a builder who has had experience with mcmmo in other servers and not one person believes that he/she would be able to post a accurate data value for the mcmmo stats on ECC. I would have to say, I am not accusing all people to be ignorant or bias against builders, but under some circumstances I feel as if the most of reason why higher ranks are trusted more is because they have experienced more conflicts and have learned all the reasons people do get banned. If you are a high rank and you dedicated time and effort into the server, I highly doubt that you want to be banned. What I am trying to say here is that, Although builders may not be trusted... that may only be because they have never experienced how sad bans can be, and maybe they do not know of how devastated some users can get. I am sure, that a builder can be as smart, or dedicated as tycoons.. It all matters on how the user experiences the server.. and if the user is getting grief for such a reason of being a builder, they might quit and not ever be able to have the chance of becoming part of the community. I am not trying to "start a flame" I am only stating what should be seen. If you do believe builders and low ranked people should be treated worse, that is your opinion. Try to make me see that opinion in a good way. I like constructive criticism.. but I dont need to read the same criticism 50 times. Im in with you, I remember when i was a builder, and it made me want to quit when the other member of higher ranks treated me like shit.
When I was a builder and I first joined the server, I got TPed to slimypeople48's town, and have lived there ever since April/May, whenever I joined. Everyone always treated me nice, so I can't complain, and yes I do agree with this and support it...

A newbie is a new comer. :| Even more so, being a new user does make them 'lesser'. They have less commands, and lots tend to scam people. Even the Owner of the server suggests not making large trades, like buying donation features, from builders. This essentially makes them lesser because they are not to be as easily trusted as the average guy around here. Do not take this the wrong way - I'm all for stopping people from insulting builders or acting better than them just because they have a higher rank, etc. However, this statement was completely false. What the person said in that screenshot was also hardly 'rankism'. It really is true, it's a lot quieter without the newbie builders, and if I were a newbie, I'd understand his opinion. Heck, we were all newbie builders at one point, so by saying that, he's saying he's loud/annoying too. Obviously he didn't mean that, which just goes to show you that he isn't targeting everyone who is a newbie. In fact, he was targeting the entire group of them as a whole, so no one of them is loud. (Well, that's not 100% true...) Even more so, I'm sure if you took all the presidents we have now and shoved them into the same room or about the same situations, it would be just as loud. Any group of people would be loud, it's just that builders are what take up most of the space on the server, do most of the spamming, rule breaking, etc... If someone took major offense to that... I'm sorry, nobody should take any offense to it. For the most part, a builder is a builder. If we shouldn't trust all strangers in real life, why should we trust all builders? One is bound to scam you or give you false information eventually - getting resident isn't that hard, if they refuse to get it, then they will never get the trust and respect they may or may not deserve, and let that happen. Stop people insulting them or treating them like punching bags just because they are of a low rank all you want, but don't try to encourage people to trade large sums of money with builders or believe/trust all things they say just so they can feel 'equal'. There is a reason they are 'lesser' in the rank system, and that's because not all of them can be trusted with certain things. Unless there is actual abuse, like insulting them for no reason, then let what happens happen. No need to attack people for not believing what a builder says, and no need for telling people to believe what they say. Edit: I should also say here that, as I've said already, I for the most part am fine with this. However, I think you should make sure what they are doing is actually "rankism" or whatever. I don't want people going around yelling at people for saying things like what was said in that screenshot. If nobody takes offense to it, why stop it? You will only cause more drama.
My name is Logo_111 and I support the fight against rankism. By 'rankism' I mean being blantantly rude to a player who so far has not shown any reason to be disrespected.
I support this too. When I was a builder I was also treated like a noob. People thought I was stupid and that I believed them. Actually, I outsmarted them. For example, when some Resident took my enchantment table and said "OMG someone came, took your enchantment table, and tped away." I pretended to believe him, then a week later, I completely trolled him. Anyway, I hate rankism and I still face it from some mayors+. One big thing: People act as if builders are 6 years old, residents are 8, mayors are 12, presidents are 16, and mods are 20+ considering age, they all think that, the lower the rank, the stupider the person is. Sorry if I am wrong but that's just how some people act.
@dwite12 I am not interested in mayor yet i'm a comayor that's enough for me. I have a lot to do outside of ECC.
I have no idea what to say here. Rankism is ok if it's not insulting or offensive. And the whole reason of ranks is to level up in the ranks. So yeah, this thread may be slightly pointless...
I am a proud "Rankist" Evidently. I have a motto, which goes "Stop Whining, Go mining". I also often compare the massive influx of new members with my new chart. As new ranks get added, i often have to edit this; Tycoon = New President President = New Mayor Mayor = New Resident Resident = New Builder Builder = New.. Derp..?
I dont treat builders bad I just dont trust them with mass amounts of money (Ive had tens of thousands stolen from me from builders :/ NO I DO NOT HATE BUUILDERS! Most of them are actually pretty nice just dont trust them 40% are okay 50% spam, scam, grief (in small amounts) sometimes mass)
