What is the ludicrous business? Binding my money in the stock exchange until noon? What sort of man made this highly foolish decision. I purchased shares in AEZS and it was up 48.3% until this morning when it's dropping at 7.52% still. I got on at 8:30 Central to get rid of the shares so I could keep the profit. Well unfortunately I guess we're running some imaginary stock market! The NYSE open at 8:30 Central or 9:30 Pacific. You basically bind our money for 2.5 hours straight. AEZS made a public announcement and confirmed to shareholders (I hold this share in real life from $4, its at 10.XX currently.) that their company had nothing to do with the recent share price jump. Well this means obviously company is doing nothing. SO! I hopped on my Vanguard account, sold 6,000 shares of it and I'm happy with more than a 100% gain. I get on ECC and evidently the "market" isn't open. Please explain why this is. It's not at all replicating a real stock market. (NYSE)
It's to prevent massive exploits from happening due to a delay in updating here. Our stock market isn't also "to make money" it's just to earn a few medals, learn how the stock market works, and maybe make some money here and there.
So it is to make money or isn't to make money? Stocks are pretty much the backbone of the U.S. besides our infrastructure.
Main incomes farming, the extra 500% gains are the stock market. Alright I'll deal with since it's not even a huge deal. Just confused and annoyed me for a bit, there is a rather large delay though lol, 15-30 minutes almost!
This is why the rules are as they are - apologies for tagging Andrew when I could have linked this. http://www.ecocitycraft.com/forum/threads/major-stock-market-opening-close-change.128576/
Hi, I'm Andrew, I run a "Minecraft" server. I also provide a totally optional, EcoDollar, far from real stock trader Nice to meet you. PS: But really, if your looking for a real stock trader ECC is not your best bet. Think of ECC's stock trader as a long term investment sort of thing. Invest in something, wait a month, hope it goes up, and sell. Unfortunately trying to make a real stock trading platform would take thousands of thousands of dollars, and I rather invest that money into our gaming server
No, I will not give in......... I can't, I won't, I ..... I ....... Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler
A month? *Looks at the stocks he has kept since their purchase dates on various days dating back until April 13th 2015*
The stock market isn't something you should be buying/selling on 3 times a week. Research a company, invest your money where you see fit, and hope your gain happens over a lengthy period of time. It's absurd to think you can make millions and millions on ECC in a short time using the stock market model they have set up here because if you could it'd be happening in real life. Now mind you that can happen and things can cause companies to sky rocket 100's of percent over a few days time span but it's rare, very very rare. Do it for the medals and the stability. It's supposed to give you a steady source of light income not make you ECC's next Eco Leader.
I see, I don't know I day traded since I was 10-11 using my moms retirement fund and I've made her more than a few hundred thousand. It's not that difficult and I know exactly what companies I invest into, I still am sitting at more than a 45% gain in that stock no matter what I just like to maximize profits. I'm not trying to get into a fight lol, I was simply upset for a little bit because stocks are lyfe you feel ... I understand now why it is like that etc etc, it is expensive to have a bloomberg account ($1400 a month)... and simply not worth it for a server. It's definitely so worth it to me though. Thanks for all the responses.
Oh I can tell you're not trying to fight nor am I or anyone one else commenting that I am sure of. We were just putting in our 2 cents that's all
What does the rules and it being a game have anything to do with this? Lol. Anyway, as much as we dislike the new stock trader changes, they're neccessary to maintain an exploit-free, healthy, balanced economy that ECC has been maintaining for almost 5 years now.
This. Myself and @twistedjonny discovered (at a bare minimum) two brutal exploits that could easily break the economy with NYSE-equivalent hours. Won't give exact details, but if you have ever played on a simulator trader before they are some fairly apparent and general bugs. It took a lot of work to reset every offender's balance each time the market was abused (as only andrew can do it). So, andrew contacted the dev about some changes, and we were told it was a game and not a real life stock trading interface. So, to fix the problems the server had andrew changed the time. It's stuck that way; might just want to work around it.
Agreed! Just work around it and adjust your strategy accordingly. Just have to do some more long term trades is all.
